“Best Hotel in Israel (if you have kids…read this!)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

We have visited Israel and stayed at many hotels in Jerusalem and other parts of the country and the David Citadel is the best hotel! We always get a mini-suite which has room for 3 beds (a king and two rollaways). There are 2 tv's and a partition between the adult and kids sleeping areas. Plus the room is super quiet and comfortable and the service is unbelievable. If you need something, it's always there in a matter of minutes! In terms of meals, breakfast is great and there is a gentleman, Said, who is on the staff in the restaurant. He is a gracious and intelligent man and he will take great care of you and entertain your children as well. Please ask for him if you want the best experience. Of course, the hotel rooms aren't cheap but you get what you pay for!

Room Tip: if you have children, you have to get a mini suite!

This place is class all the way. Very friendly staff. Very clean. It's in walking distance to just about anything you would want to see in Jerusalem. Great restaurants are within walking distance. The hotel has a super breakfast so there is no need to go out for that meal. We had a great time there.

Stayed at the David Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem for the twelfth time on January 12-15, 2014 and found my stay superb. This is a very modern five star hotel. I stayed, as always, in a Deluxe Alcove Room with Old City Walls view and the room was immaculately clean, very spacious, with fine sheets and pillows and excellent bathroom amenities. The bathroom is also very spacious with a separate bathtub and shower. There is excellent storage space and the daily maid service is prompt. There was great heat in January. The view of Jerusalem’s Old City Walls is breathtaking, especially at night, and always makes my heart beat a little faster.

The breakfast selection is very good with fine service by those serving you coffee or tea. The fine dining Scala Restaurant is superb. The chef there is to be complimented. The lounge located one floor above the lobby serves an excellent menu if you desire a snack or perhaps lunch in a more relaxed but still intimate setting.

The Reception desk is wonderful and Daniel, Tarek, Hannoch, and Manuel are particularly helpful. The concierge desk is very helpful in making restaurant reservations or suggesting restaurants or attractions for you to visit.

The hotel is so conveniently located near the Mamilla Avenue with Jerusalem’s most exclusive shopping and within a five to ten minute walk to enter Jaffa Gate into the Old City.

In my opinion one could not ask for a better hotel to stay in while enjoying a stay in magnificent Jerusalem.

Room Tip: A view of the Old City is quieter and especially scenic.

We were part of an EO tour group. Our stay at the hotel was wonderful. The location was just outside the Old Town City Wall and right beside the mall. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Two of our outstanding waiters were Fteiha and Said.

We returned to the Citadel because it is wonderfully located and beautiful, and because we love to swim in the endless pool with partial views of the old city. We had a wonderful experience, mostly due to spectacular, attentive service. Our room that first night was quite noisy - we could hear our neighbors' conversations and television. Within minutes of calling about this we were moved to an upgraded room. Manual A, a front office manager, was quite concerned and attentive about our comfort. Yael Z from guest relations, wrote a caring and professional note. We heard from Manuel several times over the next several days, always concerned that we were pleased. To top it off, Erez, the pool attendant, found my lost earring and returned it the next day. Efficient, prompt room service. And, of course, the breakfast can't be beat - especially when Samir anticipated and fulfilled our every request with a smile.

I used to stay at the King David but thought I would try the David Citadel for a change. I couldn't have been happier with my choice. I was particularly pleased with the level of service by the staff of the Executive Lounge. Special thanks to the Manager, Revital Carmeli who
was professional, courteous and knowledgeable.

We returned to the David Citadel because of the wonderful experience we enjoyed 7 years ago.
The hotel is very beautiful and elegant but most noteworthy is the fine service. We appreciate the excellent people who staffed the front desk, housekeeping and the dining room. They were all very helpful, gracious and anxious to make our stay as pleasant and hassle free as possible. We especially appreciate Daniel at the front desk who checked us in when we arrived late at night. The housekeeping staff not only kept our room neat and clean, they asked us each day if we needed more towels or soap. We enjoyed the beautiful breakfast buffet each morning all the more because our waiter Said. Said is obviously a skilled and experienced waiter who is able to anticipate the guests wishes and needs. His warm and pleasant manner made our breakfast experience a wonderful start for each day of touring.
