“Close to the Old City. Good price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Mahmoud was a true blessing to see every morning. He made us feel safe and comfortable. Also, a part time gentleman named Sam was very helpful, and engaging.

The first evening was difficult as I am allergic to smoke and specifically requested non smoking room. We had no air conditioning and upon going downstairs to the desk, no one offered any help or suggestions even on how to regulate the temperature. The gentleman just said he had never used the thermostats. The floor was unswept and after taking a shower we had to clean our feet before getting in bed.

The next morning , with some prodding, we were shown a different room, which was great. These rooms are suites and very roomy. The windows keep the sound out at night.

We discovered a great little grocery store near the hotel the day we were leaving after asking several of the desk attendants for days for the closest one. If you stay there go right out the front door and take the first left. Maybe a 3 minute walk.

It's hotel is also close to the Light Rail and across the street from the American Colony.

Would stay there again!

Room Tip: Suite 42 is spacious

The personal service in the Addar Hotel was excellent, both at the reception desk and in the dining room - Mahmoud, responsible for the Dining room, fulfills every wish, a great guy. Addar is an excellent basis for discovering Jerusalem. Furniture and interior are fascinating in their oriental style.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view to the garden.

We stayed at the Addar and while it may be reasonably priced be prepared to pay double that in parking fines! The first night we asked where to park and they said 'around back on the street'. So we did. The next day we had a parking fine as it was for buses. The next night we parked on the other side of the street where there were other cars, and the next morning same thing. Our car was the only one w a parking ticket! Then the third night, we parked in front of the hotel where you unload the car, and we got ANOTHER ticket!!! When we had asked the hotel they did not mention once that they had parking UNDER the hotel that you had to pay separately for. When we booked the hotel it was 'free parking and free wifi'. The rooms were clean, but we ended up spending the same amount on parking tickets per night as our room rate. At that rate we would have stayed in a better hotel. Abraham was nice, and tried to be helpful, but the information offered by the other staff members cost us a lot of money!

NOT IMPRESSED.

Room Tip: Clarify you want HOTEL parking - DO NOT park on the street!!

Mahmoud of de dining room is one of the most helpfull people we have met in Israël. The breakfast was very nice (the foul with humous is delicious).

Also Sam and Abraham the reception staff members are great.

Sam helped us in every way he could to make our stay in Jeruzalem comfortabele and in our search to buy a fool bowl as there was in the hotel, unfortunately we didn't found.

Thank you!

The hotel is nice, big rooms and clean. Change of towels everyday and for anything else you could just ask and it will be arranged.

My first visit to Jerusalem and second hotel to stay at after staying in Ramat Rachel hotel organized by company. Addar was chosen due to its budget price and proximity to Old city. Was not disappointed. Get what you paid for ie a 2-3 star hotel. Room was clean and truly close to old city. Was further surprised that it was kind like a suite where you can do some cooking over a small kitchen counter. Good and solid sofa. Staff over counter were helpful and pleasant. Specifically to mention Mr. Mahmoud serving the dinning room- excellent service.

Addar has a great location, ideal for exploring the Old City which is a 10 minute walk away. The rooms were clean and family friendly. The reception staff were great and Jay - an enthusiastic young man was particularly helpful with great suggestions on where to go and what to see. He was always willing to go an extra mile and made sure our stay was comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again.
