“BEST SERVICE!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

Veronika & I have been guests at this hotel for over a decade on Yom Kippur, Succoth, etc. This year we were guests in the hotel from October 5 - October 23. I would like to state that the quality, service and food has been excellent. I would like to particularly thank Yousef (Maitre D) for his hospitality and services, Mr. Othman (captain), Ronnie (front desk) and Roberta (reservations manager). My son, Shlomo & Rivka Weissman checked on October 31 for a week. I was also a guest @ Leonardo Plaza at Dead Sea from October 23 - October 30. It is always a pleasure to be a guest at your hotel.

Staying at the Leonardo Plaza Hotel is like "coming home" when we visit Jerusalem. We've stayed in many different hotels in our visits to Israel, and the Leonardo Plaza Hotel has the best accomodations, the finest cuisine, and the friendliest staff of anywhere we've stayed in Israel.

I've been to many hotels in Jerusalem. This is clearly at the top. The service was amazing. There isn't a request they didn't take care of. Yes, the price is not cheap, but this is a very high end hotel. The value is certainly there. I've noticed some complaints on other posts about the cost of wifi. Sorry to say, but if that's much of an issue, this isn't the hotel for you. If you're looking for the best classic hotel to see Jerusalem, you're in the right place. If you want a hotel that bends over backwards to accommodate its guests, this one's for you.

From the minute we came in we felt welcome, and we felt like we were in good hands. The quality of the rooms was excellent. I have been in many places around the world. I almost always stay at 5-star or higher. This rates right up there.

My 2 x 9 year old twin girls can rate a hotel better than anyone. Last year I took them to the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando. They weren't blown away. Their exact words were, "this is nothing, it's the same as the Ritz in LA.". They loved the Plaza. It's much more than just marble and mirrors. It is an icon in Jerusalem and you feel it. There is so much history. A view to die for (get the old city view, if available). The Location can't be topped. Security is very thorough (not a TSA type deal). Food, service, business center, room service, all were amazing.

I don't know why they changed from Sheraton, but I was there many times under Sheraton. It is 10 times better now. All renovated. Better attitudes and service. Much nicer rooms, and more in line to American style luxury. The next time I'm in Jerusalem, I'll go straight there. The best part is that when my bill came at the end, I'm used to at least 20% higher than projected, but here it was lower. There were no excess fees, and absurd water bottle charges that normally come with a high end hotel.
And last but not least....
There's a Shul in the building fully stocked with Seforim. This hotel will enhance your Jerusalem experience. Some of the others might give you the feel of Tel Aviv.

We stayed at the Plaza during this trip to Jerusalem because we needed to be walking distance to some family members who live nearby. Our party had senior citizens in it who could not walk far.
Rooms were very very nice. They looked like they had been recently renovated. I was actually surprised at how nice they were. Food was very good. Staff was just OK, but it was an insanely busy holiday weekend that would challenge any staff. I think the best part was that we were on a very high floor, and so our room was bright and sun filled all day, and the views were amazing. Would highly recommend, especially as it is relatively a good value compared to other rates in Jerusalem.

If you like an all-American Jewish atmosphere, go for it. If you prefer small hospitable places, avoid it.
Sure, I could see the whole of the old city from my 19th floor, and it was a great sight. The hotel itself is well situated, near a park, near the old city, but it meant the demolition of small houses nearby to let this skyscraper reach the sky of Jerusalem. The room was spacious, clean, but lacked personality. Moreover, I found outrageous to have to pay for internet services, 28NIS per half hour on machines that hardly worked, on computers you could hardly see in a dark corner.

Room Tip: If you want to see the old city from bird eye view, take a higher room. You have a choice, there are...

My family visits this hotel, on the Jewish holidays, for more than 30 years; The hotel is located in the heart of Jerusalem (Rechvia area) vis a vis to the Great Synagogue of Jerusalem, close to the Prime Minister residence, on a walking distance from the old city. The hotel overlooks, especially from the upper floors, the old & the new parts of Jerusalem; The hotel has an outdour swimming pool, a fitting center, a synagogue, a business center, some shops, etc. The hotel enjoys a gourmet cuisine managed by the famous international chef Shalom Kaddosh; The hotel fits for weddings, bar mitzva, as well. My family had a very nice time on our Succot holiday (October 2011).

Room Tip: Ask for the upper floors, facing the old city of Jerusalem

I must say that when I first arrived I was blown away by the friendliness and overall competence of the staff. They were extremely courteous from the doorman all the way up to management. I must admit i can be a bit of a rock star when staying in a hotel(Not the kind who throws TVs out the window but the kind who makes unreasonable demands at times) and not once was it ever taken as an inconvenience to the staff, The food was exquisite and always prepared with fresh ingredients made by people who have a genuine love of cooking. Id recommend tho getting a corner room by the elevators if your a party animal like myself. Well done.
