“Amazing location and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

We recently spent 5 nights at the King David. The location was perfect. We were able to walk to the old city, the Mamilla Mall or to Ben Yehuda street in 10 to 15 minutes. We had a corner room with a small balcony. We viewed the Old City from the balcony and the YMCA building from the front window. The room itself was a bit small in size, but adequate. There were nice touches...the minibar was stocked with complimentary water, juices, and soft drinks...the towels were on a heated rack... lights could all be controlled from the bed...Housekeeping did a good job each day and were very responsive to any and all requests. The Concierges were always patient and helpful. The dining room staff were friendly and attentive...the food delicious and varied. The hotel itself is wonderful, but it is the service that puts it over the top. The lobby area was comfortable and often busy with groups of guests chatting or couples meeting in quieter corners. The pool area was lovely and the terrace even lovelier. All this and history too! Visiting Jerusalem was amazing and staying at the King David was a special treat.

My last stay at the King David was the end of 1988. Like fine wine this historic hotel has improved ith age. The renovated rooms are extremely comfortable. The public areas give you through pictures a history of this part of the world. The food is wonderful and the service is magnificent. The pool is reminiscent of the Beverly Hills hotel with its classic shape and beautiful serenity. Most of all, it's in Jerusalem.

This has to be one of the most elegant hotels to spend a few days. From the minute we walked in, we were treated with the most amazing service. We had a deluxe room with a view of the New City and it was beautiful. The furnishings could not be better with robes and slippers. We had tea with family downstairs and it was great. The concierge gave us a recommendation for dinner and it couldn't be better. We ordered coffee for the monring and we got a tray with danishes, cheese and fruit with juice along with the coffee! The buffet breakfast is the best I have every had - I have never seen such a variety of cheese and dairy products like this. We are going back in a few months and can't wait! Absolutely a beautiful hotel that is so elegant and with so much history tied to it. The staff were all wonderful!

Room Tip: Trust the staff- they were so accomodating

When we first checked in I have to admit I was disappointed. It looked dark, dull and dreary. When you enter the hotel there is a very large, but slightly shabby, foyer area. It doesn't represent what you are about to experience.

At check in we were greated by an oldish, but knowledgeable character. The check in was smooth and we were led by his much younger colleague to our smallish room on the fifth floor overlooking the Old City. The view was magnificent and the room was one of the few which had a balcony. I would recommend paying the extra to have this view. Even though the hotel was busy with Bah Mitzfahs our room was quiet and comfortable.

The hotel foyer which could really do with some lightening up, is in fact an interesting place where guests meet and people come and go. The breakfasts too were excellent - there were many choices together with some very enthusiastic waiters who reminded us that they like to be recognised for their service. The concierges were helpful too and gave us an excellent, but unusual dinner suggestion (Zidkyahu, a suburban "Steak House" just 10 minutes away by taxi) -a place where locals go which was just what we asked for.

We dined at La Regence in the hotel and that also was a pleasant experience - great food and service. The Terrace Restaurant was a nice place to sit, admire the view and have a drink.

The gardens and outdoor pool are beautiful and nothing like the front of the hotel. Adjacent to the hotel, there are more lovely gardens which are very pleasant to walk through and admire the view of the city.

The hotel's location outside the wall was about 10 minutes walk to the modern Mamila Shopping Centre and 15 minutes from Jaffa Gate leading into the Old City, a fantastic place.

So despite my first impression, we loved this hotel and its ambience and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Fifth and sixth floor rooms which look out to the old city have beautiful views.

Hi
I've been going to Israel almost every year for the last 11 years, sometimes twice a year. This was my first stay in Jerusalem. Loved the hotel! Most of the services were fantastic from the greeting of the bell boys to the knowledge of the concierge and front desk, couldn't ask for better! Housekeeping, however, a totally different story. Even after speaking to Maya, from guest relations, who really tried to help, the housekeeping services did not improve. The floor tiles in one of our rooms was lifting and after two days of calling they finally tempararily fixed it. We had three rooms and they were all connecting. Would definitely go back with my husband and hope for a better room with consistant housekeeping. Until next time King David!

This hotel embodies so much history, has wonderfully refurbished rooms on the 5th and 6th floors. Worth paying for a view of the old city. Especially to watch at sunset! Enjoy

Room Tip: 5th 6th floor facing old city
