I agree with the other reviewers--this hotel leaves a lot to be desired\. The location to the Central Bus Station is the only redeeming feature.
The rooms are horrible. If they change the sheets once a week you will be lucky.
While I stayed there they did not make my bed twice in a 7 day period.
The smell is awful, the Tv did not work properly and there appeared to be a shortage of clean towels.

extremely large building with a glitzy reception area after this the style deteriorates dramatically.Lifts are very small despite this it is easier to take your own luggage than wait for the disinterested staff/ porters to bring it to your room.Dont ask any questions at reception you will be ignored.Staff are rude with the exception of the coffee shop manager
Rooms are grimy poorly furnished and extremely niosy either from airconditioning or traffic
Food is very limited and atrocious
Hotel had many large student groups and extremely noisy
Tables were not reserved on arrival and when they were the name was wrong.. Very far away from the old city
Only suitable perhaps for a credit crunched business traveller certainly not for a religous group

This was the hotel our tour company booked for the Jerusalem leg of our trip. Affordable, yes but had I known the quality of the rooms and the overall state of the hotel, I would have opted to pay more to stay somewhere better. Rooms and halls were old, worn-out and musty. Our trip coincided with a HUGE (probably occupied 60-70% of the rooms) delegation of pilgrims. This made breakfast in the morning a mad scramble - not pleasant at all. The only positive thing about it is its proximity (adjacent) to a small shopping center (where they have free wifi, vs. the hotel that doesn't) and the Central Bus Station.

If you absolutely must consider this hotel, call to ask if they're accommodating a big group at the time of your stay.

I got there and discovered that they had double-booked our room. I couldn't believe it - they'd reserved the same room to two families, and since the others got there first, they got the room. I booked with them directly - how difficult can it be to set a room aside when someone books with you?

The people at the front desk were extremely unhelpful - they didn't have another room available in the size we needed, and didn't have any suggestions for where we should go, so I had to leave my wife and daughters waiting in the foyer while I left to find a room at another hotel. We wound up at the Olive Tree Royal Plaza Hotel, which was actually quite nice.

I can't speak to the accommodations at the Jerusalem Gate, as I wasn't even able to spend a night there - but based on everything else I experienced there, I don't think it would have been a pleasant stay.
