“Obsessed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

This is a must go while in Jerusalem! Incredible things to see, eat, buy and take home with you. You must go to Halva Kingdom. It is the best halva anywhere! I am sorry that i didn't know about this place in advance of this trip as I would've taken a tour. I only wish they'd ship some of their products to the US as we can't get dried fruits and nuts like that here. Visit the market website for more information. Lots of great, cool, hip restaurants and bars here too.

“Great place to sample local products”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Easy to get to from Jaffa Gate. Either a walk along Jaffa Str (follow the tram lines) - takes about half hour- or take a tram and stop at 3rd station.good to go around lunch or evening as there are lots of little cafes to eat at. Ima's Kurdish food was great.

Loved sampling before buying. Fantastic for dates and local Israeli spices. You can buy as much or as little as you want. Just say 10 shekels and he will give you that amount. I bought spices and he sealed packed for me.

“Beautiful market but beware”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Most colorful and wonderful place to spend a few hours while visiting Jerusalem. Inspired by the atmosphere, views and smells I was tempted to eat at one of the stalls (Manou BaShuk) and was felled by food poisoning.

“Fantastic selections but understand the prices.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

After tired after bearing your cross on the Via Delarosa head here. Anything and everything you every wanted to eat and maybe somethings you wouldn't. Most prices are marked only in shekels and vary from per kilo ( 2.2 pounds) or per 100 grams (4 oz).
Many bulk vendors will push you to buy way too much. Just walk away! In the mini markets all prices are marked but the Israeli products do not have any language but Hebrew on the packages. No English/no Arabic. Ask. Your best bet on bulk items is to go to the vendors that let you package the goods and they weigh them and you see the prices on the scale.
For the best bar visit the Casino de Paris and for Lebanese food Manou Bashouk.

“Colorful and busy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

You can spend around 2 hours walking around and between the stalls in this colorful rich market. You'll find fresh fruits & vegetables, cheese, highest quality of Halva and Tehini and more authentic staff. There are many small cosy places to eat daily cooked fresh local food so noon will be a good timing for the visit.
