Sheyan is centrally located near downtown Jerusalem in Rehavia. It is a beautifully furnished restaurant with a pleasant and attentive staff. Because it has a high level of kashrut it caters primarily to religious tourists. The place offers a variety of appetizers, such as spring roles and fried mushrooms, as well as several special sushi rolls, noodle dishes and main courses of meat. All of the fried dishes a quite heavy, so best to avoid. The sushi is over-priced. However the main dishes are prepared well, very tasty and have a zest. This is especially true of the mongolian beef and the tempura chicken. Unlike some Chinese restaurants where the main dish is just a heap of vegetables and some meat that all tastes the same, these dishes are truly different and consist primarily of meat. For anyone who wants Chinese food in Jerusalem, this is the only place to go. It is slightly pricey. A very nice place for couples or a date.
