“A gem in Jerusalem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

There is nothing modern or trendy about the decor or the menu at Cavalier; the emphasis is on the consistent reliability of the dishes.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was exquisite, the ambience relaxed but special, and the service excellent. If you haven’t had a chance to dine at Cavalier, I suggest you add it to your to-do list.

“wonderful food everytime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

we had an early reservation, 7:30 after Shabbat and they were just opening and the restaurant for the first half hour smelt from smoke which was every annoying. however it would not prevent us from going back but it is something they should correct

the food selection and taste is excellent as well as the wine selection

the service was superb even though they only had one young lady on the floor she did a wonderful job

we never miss the restaurant on our four yearly trip to this amazing country and we will continue to do so

“Expensive but good non-kosher/middle eastern option in jerusalem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014

If you are visiting the country and want to try local Arabic or Israeli/Kosher food, this is not the place - the French-style cuisine is average by New York, London or Paris standards, and its not kosher. However, if you have been here for a while and are craving something more continental/international this is one of the better options in Jerusalem. I have had several excellent meals here, and particularly enjoy the goose liver appetizer -- its outstanding. The steaks and pastas are very good, the fish is above average. They have a nice wine selection and usually have decent service. Overall its pretty expensive though so be prepared to pay - a recent meal for two was more than $200 dollars and only one of us was drinking. Finally, its a great option for shabbat (if you are not religious of course) - its open and lively on Friday nights. I would avoid it and most west jerusalem places on saturdays since fresh food is not delivered over shabbat (most of friday and all of saturday).
