Readers may have seen an earlier review decrying the execrable service at the main branch Luciana restaurant on Emek Refaim (the German Colony). The food is always top notch, but the service was an exercise in total frustration. In fact, we decided after several chances, to never go there again.
Happily, a new branch of the restaurant has opened in the Mamila Mall in Jerusalem. The food is still dynamite, but at this new branch there is actually excellent service! Menus are quickly presented, orders taken in a timely fashion and the food is delivered with everyone's order coming at one time. Waiters are attentive without hovering, water is brought to the table (but only on request), and all in all the service makes it worth while going.
As the restaurant is in the mall, there is both outdoor seating in individual gazebos as well as inside seating in the restaurant proper. Although space is tight, it is possible to have a private conversation. The interior decor is very pleasant and evocative of an Italian plaza. The menu remains large and comprehensive.
The food is kosher dairy Italian food. Portions are large. We were a group of four and we all shared our appetizers and dinners. Everything was excellent.
Would we go again? To the mall branch- for sure! The cost is moderate to high, but the food is well worth the cost.
