Lodging in Jerusalem is overpriced. This place is no exception. We chose this place for the price. We stayed at the David Citadel last time - nice but way too expensive. So we went economy this time around. Lonely Planet said this place is located on a filthy street. They are correct. And the hostel itself does not have much charm. The rooms are very basic and not very clean. Old dirty sheets. Ive been eaten up by bugs in the hostel. I know it's hard to find a good lodging value in Jerusalem, but do yourself a favor and spend a little extra money and stay somewhere nicer - perhaps inside the old city.

Palm hostel/Hotel has a perfect location to explore Jeruzalem. The rooms quality are from terrible to good. Our first room was verry small, no windows, high humidity and dirty. The second room after complaining and a verry nice conversation with Isa (hotel manager) was much better! The room was bigger, cleaner and the humidity was much better. Arconditioning was in both rooms leaking.
The atmosphere was in general good! Had al lot of nice conversations with other travelers and the hotel manager. there is a nice terrace whre you can sit. Some of the people working there are a little bit agressive in their way of aproaching customers.
The price is verry good for the qualty you get. its about 25 euro per person for a hotel room

New Palms is just outside the Damascus Gate, making it well situated to access the Old City - particularly the Muslim Quarter and the Stations of the Cross. Obviously, due to the location, the street noise is ever present - but it is a special feel sitting on the balcony watching the bustling of the locals below. An added bonus to the location was the proximity of the Palestinian buses - across the road!
I joined a friend in the hotel part which was basic but clean. Breakfast was simple yet delicious! However, my friend had stayed a few nights previously in the hostel part, and it was filthy (particularly the toilets!!) She also lost money when she moved into the hotel part, as her balance for her dorm room wasn't transferred (!!!)
Be warned, it is a trek from the Bus Station, although easily reached by tram.

Room Tip: If you ask for A/C - make sure it works! Ask for a room with a balcony overlooking Damascus Gate - t...

In an expensive city like Jerusalem this one of the few budget options the city seems to offer. The location is the best thing, with the old city on the other side of the road. This is much more comfortable than having to carry your baggage trough the crowded city in order to reach some of the other budget accommodation that is directly situated in the old city.
Having visited many Arabic countries, I did not find the area around the hotel dirty, but I understand where some who do are coming from.
Breakfast is excellent compared to what you get in many other budget hotels in the Arabic world, but I don't know what other hotels in Israel are serving.
Your room is never cleaned during your stay, so it is probably best to take the litter out yourself. The hotel would be indefinitely better if the poor sheets were replaced and broken parts of the bathroom repaired. However, one can still have a good night of sleep.
WiFi is available, sometimes, in a few places in the hotel.
Trips are probably not worth your money, so I would recommend to avoid them. (asking the manager about information about them is basically the same as agreeing to take one)

Although it is in very convenient place - close to Damascus Gate - and although the staff tries to be really helpful I wouldn't come again. Simply dirty! I was bitten by fleas (!!!) that I am alergic too. Likewise coming back to the hostel in the evening meant going through REALLY dirty street outside. With so many wonderful places in Jerusalem one shouldn't stay in such one!

The manager is possibly the rudest person I have ever met. The place is disgusting dirty. As soon as we arrived the manager tried to argue with us about the price we were to pay. He was extremely aggressive, we felt threatened by him. He called us 'stupid' for not agreeing with him. He claimed we were making a problem out of nothing because we were British. I cannot understand his mentality, why he needs to be like this is very strange.
Really, don't bother, it's cheap yes, but just pay a little extra and avoid the hassle, you will not regret it.

this is probably a very budget solution, probably the most unexpesive, but not everybody will be able to sleep there.
the overbook everysingle day trying to get as many guests as possible, the resalt is the the make you sleep in the corridor or on the floor on crap matresses. the worst is probably the renovated part of the bilding that they call "hotel". True is renovated, but is just not human to let 8 peoble sleep in a 10 qm room WHIT NO WINDOWS, I could't breath and I went to the breakfast room, I slept there.
