“Great museum for entire family, kids would enjoy it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

When was the last time you saw a real cannon of a sunken ship found in the sea?
A pirate or crusader's sword, coins and many other marine stuff?

Related to the Mediterranean, the Nile and the area, it's permanent display is unique since you can see pirates, crusaders, ancient shipping, ship models, very old maps and many other archeology collections.

If you are in Haifa and can get to this museum for something like 2-3 hours, depends on your tempo, consider this museum as a good option for the entire family.

Very interesting exhibitions that suits both adults and kids.
To my opinion it is ok for kids starting age of 5-6.

Worth to take 2-3 hours in the museum and continue to the beach are located very close.

“Place which doesn' t need tourists”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012 via mobile

May be it's very nice place, but first they should put the conditions of visiting somewhere in internet. Having come there I found that they ask a passport to enter the museum. This info even not written on the shield. It's a small handmade sticker. How could I know before, that l need id to visit museum? It's very stupid from managment of museum. Probably they are not interested in tourists. Ok, there are enough maritime museums all over the world.

“Pirates, Ancient Mariners and More...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

We particularly enjoyed the Pirate section of the museum as it was unusual to have this information presented visually, outside of film. This museum will enchant all family members with its dioramas and superb collection of historical ships and artifacts. Within easy walking distance of a Haifa train station, this is a must see to really understand Mediterranean history.

“Sea & History...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2010

It was real nice place to visit and to see all of these old time tools which seamen used to navigate through seas with so much archeological finding of specific tools, equipments and other history related to Israel.
Added benefit is the walking distance to a few other historical / religious (Jewish and Christian) attractions in the area, after all any step you go in Israel has to do with history and religion.
