I booked the Dan Carmel in Haifa just prior to our stay mid-December 2012.
The reception staff were uniformly helpful and pleasant. They were knowledgeable about the area and are clearly multi lingual.
The foyer is vast as is the lounge which opens onto a superbly maintained garden overlooking the city and harbour. There is an excellent gift shop with carefully selected items and excellent Jewelery with knowledgeable staff.
The rooms have apparently been recently updated and ours had a view of the east side Mt Carmel. The rooms are spacious and superbly outfitted, the bathroom exceptionally so with a full separate bath and closed off WC and rain shower style shower recess. The toiletries were excellent and bathrobe and disposable slipper supplied.
Technical problems with the air conditioner switch and the Flat screen TV reception were remedied on the spot and a bowl of fruit arrived soon after. Our tariff included a splendid array of breakfast foods in the dining area including eggs to order, a large variety of hot dishes and intriguing amuse bouche as well as the expected Israeli breakfast items. Service was most professional attentive and informative. We did not have time to try the evening fixed price buffet but it looked amazing and at about $50 US seemed very good value. There was a well equipped and supervised gym in the basement spa which was included. Our tariff also included evening use of the 10th floor business club which provided hot soup and sandwiches, salad greens ,fruit and desserts as well as coffee, wine and soft drinks. But the night view is something else. The area was attended by a most professional manager and chef. We were contacted to personally invite us to visit the facility. It provee quite addictive.
The hotel is at the top of Mt Carmel and a short walk to the local shopping centre with the vertical train the Caremlit which takes one down the the Paris Place at the heart of the old port shopping and food area with its hum us and felafel specialties.
There is a wide range of local shopping, local food varying from McDonalds and pizza to more elegant venues. It is adjacent to the towering Dan Panorama which contains a shopping mall .
We were advised to visit the designer jeweler Ramot within, which proved very rewarding and prompted an invitation to a charming evening event where Jewelery inspired by ancient Mesopotamia was on view introduced by the designers.
I would be very happy to advise friends to stay and look forward to returning in the future if able.
