We stayed at the Colony in early December 2013 in a room that the staff obviously worked to accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids. Although the room (ground level) was cozy/cramped, we didn't mind; everything else worked fine. In particular, the air conditioning worked great and we were a bit on the chilly side until we learned how to work it. But compared to other hotels where we roasted, this was ok. It is true, the view is spectacular, and there are nice nearby restaurants. The front desk staff are typical Sabra Israelis, who come off gruff but really did want us to enjoy our stay and asked how we liked our room several times. But I thought the breakfast was really excellent. When we went to Jerusalem, we stayed in a much larger, fancier hotel, but the breakfast was less tasty. I loved all the salads and even the halvah was better-tasting. It tasted less industrial and more like someone in the kitchen cared about what was being served. So overall, the stay was very good verging on excellent.
