“Excellent place to sleep on half board basis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Nice swimming pool, excellent location, clean and nice lobby, excellent staff.
Food is very good - it's not restaurant, but it's great value for money.
There is kindergarden for kids, some attractions at swimming pool, rooms are clean and rennovated.

Room Tip: We had room with pool view, with small balcony

Don't come with high hopes and you will enjoy your stay.
Food very poor but eatable
The free paddle boot are great
And the rooms are not too small
No real activities
Public areas are not clean
Modern lobby and nice swimming pool

We were a group of 4 adults and 7 kids who were given rooms in the Astral Marina after the hotel we had originally reserved rooms at was overbooked. This is a hotel with a lot of unrealized potential. The rooms we were given were mini-suites, each with a double bed in a bedroom and a pull out couch in the main room. The location of the hotel is good, right next to the new Ice Park and a short walk to the promenade and beach but still in a relatively quiet area. Each room has a small kitchenette with a hot-plate (not all of them worked) but no microwave. One of the nice features of the hotel is a marina with small kayaks and pedal boats that can be used by guests. The hotel was recently renovated and most of the fixtures in the rooms and in the hotel open spaces are relatively new. At the same time, the difference between an okay hotel and really nice hotel lies in the attention to detail and staff who care both of which are largely lacking here. In one instance, one of the cleaners watched us walk out of the room. We then realized that we had forgotten the key in the room and asked the cleaner to help us. She shrugged her shoulders, turned her back on us and went back to cleaning the room across the hall without a word of explanation. The cleaning is not thorough and many of the rooms are poorly maintained. Two out of three refrigerators did not work properly. One froze everything that was put in the refrigerator section. The bathrooms all have glass doors without locks, some of which did not close properly. When we first arrived, we were given a room on a floor with a strong stench of sewage. Pretty soon, sewage started to come up through the shower drain of one of our rooms! After a few calls, one of the managers, David, moved us to rooms on a different floor. All in all, if you are a family traveling on a budget, the Astral Marina can be a reasonable place to stay but be aware that this is not more than a 3-star hotel at best.

Room Tip: Some rooms have bathtubs while others have a shower which consists of drain in the corner of the bat...

This hotel is so-so. I wouldn`t recommend it to anybody.
Rather poor breakfast, old rooms, awful lift. Location is normal. It`s ok but I don`t want to come back. We were there with kids and I need to say that it`s not good place for them and for moms with strollers.

Very decent hotel, recently renovated. Nice suites.
Food is good. Dining room a bit crowded (especially if you go there during holidays). We stayed there for 2 nights during Hanukkah holiday. We took 2 Junior suites for our family (parents + 5 children). Rooms were neatly set.
Beds were excellent

Room Tip: I heard in reception that other families received very small rooms. Make sure to book "Junior S...

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

I was there in September 2012. The hotel has a lot to offer, situated close to everything i.e. the shopping mall, marina and all the main attractions. The receptionists lacked emotion or were extremely nervous about something. It really didn't put you in the holiday mood. We had two suites, mine was different from my son's family. They had a microwave, we didn't; we had a bathtub, they had only a shower; the part of the closet where you hang your clothes, well that was the most hilarious part, theirs had a wall so you couldn't hang up any clothes, ours was normal; they had two doors to the bathroom, we had one but without any handles. Don't worry they're swinging doors so it wasn't so bad. The elevator is really small and fits only 2 people.
The pool was nice and in my opinion big enough for all the guests. Breakfast was great with a large variety to choose from. The dining room was clean and kept well set up after each guest left. What's with the staff eating at the tables as you just walk in and their dirty uniforms, what was the managment thinking with this setup? Not a very pleasant greeting when you walk in.
The entertainment in the hotel was very disappointing. They advertised entertainment for the kids as it was the holiday season but there was only 1 evening worth staying in for.
All in all we enjoyed our stay. Hope management does something about the staff morale.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the poolside are quieter.

We had a good room and the pool was very good but they could not even produce a corkscrew so slightly awkward for western customers who like a wee drink!

Room Tip: Face the pool with a balcony.
