“The perfect hotel for a quiet vacation, feels you are at home.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2011

The hotel is medium size, not too big, not too large. It let you your privacy and quiet time, yet you can feel like at home, with a personal atitude of the crew for any need and question. The roome are nice, clean and comfortable. The location is perfect - close to everything - yet very quiet. The food is the best, they have a very good chef...
We came with friends twice, and we will come again.

The one-bedroom one-bathroom suite was attractive but cramped, with 3 teenagers sharing the living room. We had advised the hotel that we would be 5 people, and that the teenagers were around 6 foot tall, and had been assured the beds would be adequate. The fold out double bed fell short, literally, in terms of comfort. With fewer people, however, the room would have been fine.

Breakfast, which was included, was good. Dinner was pricey for what was on offer so we opted to eat out. (Hotel laundry facilities were also very expensive.)

We had a communication problem regarding Sabbath meals. As an observant Jewish family we wanted to ensure we could eat Sabbath meals in the dining room ie Friday night dinner and Saturday breakfast, with the food prepared prior to Friday evening. We were told there were no Sabbath meals. It turned out, after we had gone to the trouble of purchasing our own food elsewhere, that the hotel did in fact provide such meals. None of the various staff members we had asked had apparently understood that Sabbath dinner is on Friday night, and had thought we were asking about Saturday night dinner (which was not available). Eilat is not a very religious place, but I would have expected better informed staff in an Israeli hotel. In future I would know to ask whether dinner is available on Friday night, rather than refer to it as Sabbath.

Helpful tourist information was available from a woman who worked, I think, independently of the hotel but sat at a desk in the lobby. Through her we found out about some of the local attractions, such as camel riding and snorkeling (or scuba, if preferred) with dolphins.

We couldn't obtain an English-language newspaper at the hotel. All in all we found it a pleasant place to stay, but rather limited in what it offers.

This is a large hotel a block or so away from the central bus station which is very convenient for bus travelers. We came in by bus, stayed for one night and went to Petra early the next morning. The hotel was a bit worn, but adaquate for a 1 or 2 night stay associated with a trip to Petra. The staff was accommodating.

It's not a horrible location either, and it's less than 5 minutes from the airport (so are most hotels in Eilat), but it's in the wrong direction from the main bars/restaurant areas. There is a police station and a gas station nearby though! Oh yeah, and Casa do Brasil, a Brazilian steakhouse - that smelled pretty good - is right next door. But it is a fairly long walk (I imagine even longer during the summer months) to the beaches, shopping, and eating.

The hotel itself is similar. Not great, but not bad either. I just can't imagine how this is the number 3 hotel in Eilat on trip advisor...there must be better, although maybe not for the price and size of room you get at the Nova.
