“very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2009

Went to Eilat for work. Had to stay there a weekend. The hotel is a nice 4-3 stars well located, clean and tidy. All in all I'd say a cute hotel. Food wasn't special, but was fine.
If you're not looking for something fancy. this is the place for you.

My family and I stayed in the Galey hotel, in Eilat, in Sept 2007. We booked the hotel directly, but I checked it out on israeldeal.com before doing so. To my surprise, almost everything the website advertised was not true. They said that the hotel had recently been renovated, which was far from the truth. The lobby furniture was stained and full of cigarette burns, the tile around the elevators was broken, the hallways were dirty, the tub had chips throughout and the walls and baseboards in the room were filty with black smudges and dirt. The hotel advertises that they have a lobby bar and swimming pool; neither of which exist. I asked the receptionist where the pool was and she said that they didn't have one, but I could use a neighboring hotel's pool for free. The website also advertises views of the red sea, which does exist, but very few of the rooms have it. The majority of the rooms have a view of the airport or the construction site in the back (I've included pictures of both). Something else I found strange, was that the front of the hotel had been re-stuccoed (which you can see on their website), but the rear had not (which I included a picture of). I guess I should have looked at Trip Advisor before booking this hotel. Ths was definitely a lesson learned.

  • Liked — The staff was friendly and spoke very good English.
  • Disliked — No pool, lots of hair on the bathroom floor, no handicap ramps (for our stroller), overall dirty.

Galey Hotel Eilat Israel

My family and I booked this hotel online with Tailor Made Tours. We found it on israeldeal.com. It was advertised as a recently renovated 3 star hotel with a photo of a beautiful guest room and swimming pool. We prepaid $160.00 U.S per night
We arrived at the hotel to find a very shabby and dirty hotel lobby with stained furniture. The guest suites were in a terrible state of disrepair. There were holes in the walls, broken locks on patio doors, no lock on hotel room door. The linen was threadbare and had holes in it. The bathtub and sink were full of chips.
The hotel hallways were dirty . There was no swimming pool although one appeared on the israeldeal.com website of the hotel.
The website which advertised this hotel provided misleading and false advertising . In my opinion this hotel should not even be a one star hotel.
This was an unfortunate experience as the rest of the country of Israel and other tour operators we dealt with amazing.

  • Liked — proximity to beach
  • Disliked — dirty no heat shabby horrible value for price
  • Tips/Secrets — dont consider this hotel or Tailor Made Tours or israeldeal.com

This hotel was definitely a great bargain for the price I paid. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were all around clean. The hotel is located directly on the North Beach. I paid $45 a night through israeldeal.com.
The complimentary breakfast was very light, just coffee, bread and cheese, though most hotels in Isreal don't serve meat for breakfast. One part I disliked was the wall between the outdoor pool and the beach. In order to get to the beach you had to exit out front and walk around the side of the hotel. Other than that the hotel was across from the airport, was able to walk to the hotel not having to pay for a cab and I did not hear any noise from the airport when I was at the hotel.

Some Suggestions- If you are a snorkeler take a cab to the Coral Reef Beach(about 20 shekels, $5 ). You pay a entrance fee of 23 shekels and you can bring you own equipment or rent it their.
Also visit the Dolphin Reef Beach where you can swim with the dolphins for about $55, a bit cheap compared to what I paid in Florida. Located next to the Coral Reef Beach.
