“interesting history, great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2012

Worth visiting! The story of Masada is really impressive. The ruins are carefully preserved and you can take audio tour or can just explore signs and guide, enjoy great views of the Dead Sea, Jordan mountains and old Roman forts ruins.
Quite expensive - 72 shekels for visit with funicular for adult. But the parking is free and the site is in very good condition.
If you have time - you can climb up to the hill by foot (about 40 minutes) - please prepare water and be ready to the hot sun above.

“Great experience on the way to Dead sea hotels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2011

We've visited the museum with 2 young children, it was easy accessible with a stroller and our older child really enjoyed the movie before entering to the archeological site. The site is very nicely reconstructed and it demonstrates the Hordus palaces and it help to visualize the life at that time. Great place to spend a day, there are also some dining options, parking arrangements. We really enjoyed this place

“Innovative museum, nice addendum after a visit to the plateau.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2010

The Masada Museum is a newer addition at the Masada National Park, dedicated to the archaeologist who did the majority of the work to excavate the site: Yigael Yadin. It is found just before the ticket booth and I believe requires a separate entrance fee. An audio guide is mandatory and photography is forbidden.

The Museum consists of about nine rooms, all geared towards recounting the time of Herod, the siege by the Romans, and the subsequent struggle and downfall of the Jewish rebels. I'm not going to spoil the details, but suffice it to say the museum is quite innovative in its design without relying on hokey computerized graphics and displays. It takes about 45-60 minutes to walk through and is one of the few I've seen worth a visit just for the experience itself if that makes sense. Recommended.
