Ok as it is the first review for this place i will make sure it's as informative as possible! I would never have found this place if it was not for making some friends in Jerusalem who were moving on to this place. When i first arrived in Bethlehem and asked the Taxi driver it took him a few minutes to realise where it was i wanted to go when he dropped me off it felt like the middle of nowhere, i couldn't see any hostel sign and i'll be honest i did panic a little. I wondered over to the building he had pointed to and went up some stairs still finding no signs i knocked on a door and was lucky enough to come across someone who knew the owner....well this is where my worrie ended! The hostel is run by a lovely family, they are all very friendly and nothing feels like too much trouble, it's a very comfortable place and very affordable, there are a few conveniance stores located next door and across the street, which aren't amazingly stocked but will do for the essentials, the area itself is very quiet and to be honest this night in the hostel was my most realistic experience of Palestine! I went out for a cigarette and some local kids joined me all trying to talk English and enjoying the company, the family who run the hostel offered me food, warm water and towels, use of the computer and one of the family friends who works the night shift even played cards with us! It is not on the same scope as a purpose run hostel, with tours etc but this really is a quaint, lovely place to stay. For a real taste of Bethlehem i would recommend in a heartbeat!
also to note it is only a short walk up a hill from Manger square and the church of the nativity!
