“Memorable stay in Selcuk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

The Nazar Hotel is well located in Selcuk, easy walk to town centre and a good base for seeing Ephesus and other attractions. The hotel is well run and clean and the pool was a welcome relief after a long hot day walking through the ruins. The hotel has good wi-fi and can provide evening meal (delicious local home-style cooking). Most memorable though was the wonderful service provided by owner/manager Ilker. Ilker also provided useful advice for our stay in Selcuk and some great tips for our time in Istanbul.

Having spent nearly 3 weeks traveling through Turkey,Hotel Nazar was our last stop before going on to Greece. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, especially the owner Ilker.Nothing was to much trouble,we had an issue with our car rental ( sorting out insurance etc after minor accident, long story) which had been causing us stress, however once we arrived at the hotel Ilker quickly sorted things out for us.It was such a relief to find someone who not only speaks excellent English but is genuinely interested in ensuring your visit to Turkey is an enjoyable one.The hotel itself is very well run with simple clean rooms, lovely outdoor courtyard and swimming pool.We enjoyed an evening meal on the roof terrace which the hotel provides at a very reasonable set price. The meal itself was delicious and the view was great.Thank you Ilker we will definitely be recommending you and your hotel.

Staying at the Nazar Hotel was indeed a memorable experience. My family of seven and I came to selcuk in early June and stayed here for 4 nights and i would say we had a really enjoyable time staying here. Right from the start of our stay till the very end, Illker, the owner of the hotel had been a very accommodating and pleasant host to my whole family. A really nice guy and good thing is he's so humorous with all his jokes and puns. My father had a headache and i wanted to get medicine at night and he was kind to drive us to the pharmacy to get the meds. Rooms were simple but very clean , nice and cosy. Breakfast was simple (turkish style) but it was quite filling. But the main reason that im giving this hotel a 5 star review is indeed due to its really superb owner and the way he treats his guests. Definitely a great place to stay at.

Spent one night at the Nazar in Selcuk. Nice hotel - rooms are small but clean and we had a/c which was wonderful given it was very hot. The hotel also has a nice small pool in an enclosed courtyard which was a special treat. The staff was very helpful and diligent and the owner spoke excellent english. The hotel also has a nice rooftop terrace restaurant - only ate breakfast there which was fine. The terrace has a spectacular view of the fortress above the city as well as the ruins of St. John Basilica. Very central location as well.

What a find! (Once we found it--the map from the tourist bureau was unclear about streets that appeared to continue, but actually were impassable for cars.) Ilker is a charming, knowledgeable, and courteous host (he also speaks excellent English.) The rooms and bathrooms are spotless. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony/ terrace, watching a dove trying to make a nest on a power pole.

Our mistake was not to consult Ilker in advance about the rest of our travels in that geographic area...he could have saved us time and trouble and we would have been able to stay with him for an extra day!! (We wish we had been able to.)

He also suggested one of the best and most picturesque meals we've ever had--home made (REALLY!--you are sitting in the garden of her home!) boreg (thin pancakes stuffed with vegetables, cheese, and/or meat and cooked over an open fire)--we've forgotten the name, but he'll know from the description.

The pool area is lovely and relaxing in between trips to the local archeological sites. The hotel is also centrally located for the various attractions in this area.

Ilker is what makes this hotel an excellent choice for accommodation. The combination of Ilker’s candidness and hospitality made our stay a pleasant one. He also was helpful in making suggestions for our trip to Cappadocia. The home cooked meals on the rooftop terrace with views were authentic and delicious. The location of the hotel was in a local neighborhood vs. the touristy area of Selcuk, yet only 5 minutes from the nearest bus station. The rooms are very simple and clean – no television, small bathroom, basic room. All the essentials can be found in this quaint hotel.
