“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Family-owned and operated boutique hotel on hill near centre of Selcuk. We (55-year old married couple) booked for three nights, and then after we saw how nice it was, we extended our stay by another night. Entire top floor is a terrace lounge and dining room, open air with retractable awnings to shelter from sun and rain as needed. Food is excellent, some of the best food we have had anywhere in our 120 days of travel this year. We dined there three of the four nights: great variety, taste, and value. Excellent service throughout the hotel: front desk, housekeeping, kitchen, serving staff. Bathroom small, but works fine. A bit of street noise, but blanketed by double-pane windows and patio door, and air conditioner controls temperature perfectly. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Room #12 is on corner on top floor; spacious, with one double and one twin bed, and a small balcony...

The hotel is just adorable and inviting. The staff was great! They moved our baggage, provided shuttles, provided advice on dining and places of interest. The rooftop was amazing! Great for relaxing, playing backgammon, bird watching or just having a quiet cup of tea.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

We stayed two nights in this hotel and were pleased by the careful Ottoman period décor. The owner (Nazmi I think was his name) was very welcoming and helpful, providing free trips to near villages and driving us and the guide back and forth to Ephesus. They provided (at reasonable prices) transportation from and to Izmir airport. Most of the staff was very pleasant and friendly.

One of the best aspects is the excellent food on the beautiful terrace with a great view of St. John Basilica and storks' nests (although those may be operative only in spring and summer). Hotel is just a short walk to downtown Selcuk. Owner's English was very good, the other staff less so but passable. Owner has adjacent store of ceramics and rugs but does not push you to buy his wares.

If you go to Ephesus (and that would be main reason to stay there) ask for Yelzhin as your guide. He is easy going with good sense of humor and gives a laid back tour of well over three hours. He has done this tour hundreds of time and is very familiar with all aspects of it.

We rented room #12, which is the largest room (rooms are fairly small) but this one has a balcony overlooking the parking lot of the St. John Basilica and is a lot of fun to sit there with a glass of wine and watch the going-ons with people as well as observing storks' behavior.

One recommendation is that shower could use a new shower head that may improve water flow.
Hotel was very clean and service was very good. Breakfast was above average.

If you are staying more than one night you may want to eat at Edjer restaurant by the main plaza. Excellent fish.

Room Tip: We recommend room #12 on top floor (below terrace) with small balcony facing St. John Basilica.

The hotel Bella has lot of very good points . The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The manager will give free shuttles to Ephesus and help plan your stay if you are deciding to stay for a longer period. We stayed four nights. The Hotel is located in the old town oppposite St Johns Bascilica. It has a good roof top restuarant with great views especially of the storks that nest opposite on posts. The tables are regularly cleaned with disinfectant wipes and the food is ok but limited in range. There is a computer in the restuarant that is free to use with internet access. The rooms were on the small side though clean.Drainage seemed a problem because of the age of the building and the bathroom smelt a little damp.

We had the last room - it was tiny, but clean. Selcuk is the kick off point for Ephesus, so very busy.... Car parking in road fine and they also provide transport to and from the site. Lack of room space made up for by fabulous roof terrace overlooking ancient St John's Church, the town and 4 storks' nests complete with young. Dinner was good and breakfast excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Book in early to have more choice.

My wife and I recently stayed at Hotel bella with a group of eight. We have been traveling freelance around Turkey. The Hotel bella is perfect for visiting the Epheses area. The location is directly across the stree from St. John's Basilica in a quiet area. The hotel is furnished in beautiful Anatolean style and is beautiful. The dinners and breakfast are excellent, The best thing about Hotel Bella is the staff. The owners Urdal and Nazmi are both very professional and ready to help you any way possible. Hotle Bella is a greaT PLACE T STAY!

Staying at the Bella Hotel was like staying at a museum. Next to the main floor lobby was a room with incredible displays of Turkish painted plates, tiles, jewelry and various works of art. Downstairs was a massive array of Turkish rugs. On the terrace where meals were eaten were views of the storks atop poles feeding their young. Across the street was St.John's Bascilica and the museum (which was closed for renovations). My only regret was leaving the morning of the St.John's Festival which was being held in downtown Selchuk a short walk away.
