“Great base camp to see local attractions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The rooms, although small, are beautiful and very clean. The terrace is a lovely place to eat and relax. The food is on par with other local restaurants. It is located close to transportation and all the nearby attractions. They will even provide you with free drop off and pick up to some of these. Their artwork is for sale but no pressure to buy. We did buy some tiles and a plate and they hang proudly in our home as a daily reminder of our stay in a beautiful country.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel in May for three nights and highly recommend it. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us maximize our stay in the area. They arranged free transportation to/from the Ephesus site, and suggested a fantastic lunch stop at the Seven Sleepers site for traditional crepes, which ended up being our favourite meal on the whole trip. They also arranged a great group tour trip to Pamukkale for us.

The rooftop terrace was very comfortable and convenient, and their prix-fixe dinner was great food at a good price. We visited in May, which was great timing as the terrace had a view of a stork nest with young chicks, which was a bonus! We booked very late, and so ended up in three different rooms over three nights just to stay here, but the staff moved all our belongings while we were out exploring sites, so it was no hassle at all. Our first room (two singles) was very small, but functional and cheaply priced. Our second room was a family size room with fantastic balcony and lots of space and natural light. Our third room (a double) was a good size, and very comfortable. Other perks: A/C, free WiFi, and the shop on the main floor. We would definitely stay here again.

I visited in May 2012 and booked a room at its sister the Hotel Nilya. This review is about the overbearing owner who tried to give my room to someone from a tour group when I had a confirmed reservation for two nights dated Jan. 2011. When I said I would not pay for any part of my stay, they suddenly decided I could stay there the second night. He wanted to move me to his cousins hotel!
I also ate at the roof-top garden which has a nice view, but the minute, I finished eating they said they had someone reserved for my table. I was a single guest, They were not moving others away so I surmise that this tour group was given priority. Needless to say, I will not be visiting either establishment. If you do, be sure to have your confirmation at hand and insist that they fulfill their obligations.

Room Tip: Be sure to take your confirmation with you. The Nilya is a much nicer and quiter hotel than the Bell...

Hotel Bella was a lovely introduction to Turkey for my husband and myself.

*Just a note: If you fly into Izmir on Atlas Jets, they offer a free shuttle to Selcuk that delivers you very close to Hotel Bella!

The Room: It is small, but completely adequate in every way. The bed is perhaps not that comfy but we found all of the beds in Turkey to be much more firm than we are used to. The air conditioning was lovely, the free wi-fi flawless, and the room decor is absolutely charming. We loved all the small touches in making our room feel "Turkish."

The Hotel: This is where the stand out experience comes in. We were greeted by a warm and cheerful front desk person when we arrived. We were offered a free shuttle to Ephesus in the morning, lent a book to take with us, and then picked up promptly and returned to the hotel. The breakfast is plentiful and served right to your table (not buffet style!). The front desk staff was always helpful and took care of arranging our transport to the airport - VERY early in the morning - when we departed. They really made getting oriented to a new country seamless and easy.

The Location: The hotel is within easy walking distance to eateries and the bus station. (Although when returning from town, the hotel is located up quite a hill. This didn't bother us but might be a consideration to others.) The shuttle to and from Ephesus was a quick and pleasant ride. The hotel is literally across the street from the Basilica of St. John, which was interesting to wander through. And left with a free afternoon after visiting the ruins, the woman at the front desk told us that we could easily get a cheap bus ride to the beach. We so enjoyed joining the locals at the lovely Pamucak Beach and taking a dip in the Aegean Sea. It was just what we needed after a very hot morning strolling through the ruins of Ephesus. We would highly recommend!

Hotel Bella really was the perfect way to start our vacation in Turkey. We would recommend it to anyone visiting the Ephesus area.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and must say the Ottoman-era like feel given to the entire hotel was good. The owners have taken good care of every small detail to retain this feel. The rooftop restaurant is also very good and the breakfast served was quite nice. The location is just 5 mins away from the train and bus station so its convenient. Its also walking distance from the market where you can shop, eat and drink.

What a great find! Your search for the perfect hotel in Selcuk ends here.

Beautifully decorated in Ottoman style, extremely well kept with a gorgeous rooftop terrace/restaurant and delicious food, this charming hotel has it all, from its friendly staff to its fantastic shop selling high quality Iznik tiles, Turkish carpets and killims (to name just a few treasures you can find there.) Our corner room with balcony was very nice with comfy beds (we had 2 to choose from) and very quiet at night.

Conveniently located a 10 minute drive from Ephesus (for which they offer free shuttle both ways) it is also a stone's throw away from the Basilica of St John, Isa bey Cami and the rooftop terrace offers stunning views of Selcuk castle.

What a gem! This family run hotel was a highlight of our trip to Turkey. I will keep fond memories of our host Nazmi, a wonderful character! Do yourself a favour and let him tell you all about the making of those wonderful Turkish rugs!

Is not just a family hotel. Its far more than that. The hotel is amazing but the rooftop restaurant is amazing and the way of explaining the menu is original and very tempting. You choose from the fridge 3 appetizers and then 3 many courses that are gonna be prepared for you right there. The quality of the food is magnificent and is true turkish food.

What i loved the most of the place was the other family shop. The art shop connecting from the lobby shows you true crafts made from rocks and wood and how to prepare tiles and plates from that. This is true turkish art and of course is not cheap but the quality is amazing. Very happy with my stay and my purchases!
