“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Of course we had seen ruins before but Efes was superlative. The amount of pieces, the enormous area, the 25000 seats amphitheatre and the astonishing facade of the Library of Celcus. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
We have seen the Knossos in Crete but this was much more impressive

“Excellent, but go early!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Amazing site, but make sure to go early before all the tour buses descend...The celsus library is truly amazing and the theatre is also great. Take the time to go visit St Mary's church - it is slightly away from the action, but worth visiting.

“Great archeological site”

The audiaguide is a must and is of very good quality, which is rare in Turkey. Avoiding the crowds will assure you of a better experience.

“Amazing”

A must if visiting Turkey. The history of the place is amazing and the walk down the main street imagining what it must have been like is a treat.

“The best restored ancient Roman ruins in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Arguably better than the Roman Forum ruins in Rome, Ephesus in its days is a Roman port city with a population of 250.000 people. Although extensive restoration has been made to the site, it is estimated that on 15 to 20 percent of the ruin has been excavated. Located 4 miles from the town of Selcuk, Ephesus can be reached by taxi or Dolmus, the local mini bus which cost 2.5 Lira per person from the Selcuk station. It is also possible to walk from Selcuk.
Ephesus is located on a slight hill and has two entrances. Dolmus will drop you off at the lower entrance. For a more dramatic experience of the ruin, enter from the top and work your way down. Not only you will walk down hill, you will also end the tour with the two most dramatic structures. Licensed guides are available at the entrances for around 65 dollars per group.
Although it can get very crowded with fellow tourist, Ephesus is still a site worth visiting.
