“Fantastic walk in the past”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Take a funny picture sitting on the commode of the ancient commodorium a long "L" shaped place to relieve your bowel well not really. Go on your own. See the terraced house and see how the 1% use to live off there slaves some things never change we just don't learn.

“An amazing trip well worth the long journey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My wife and i have been promising ourselves this trip for years and have always been put off by the fact that it takes two days out of your holiday, which is quite a chunk if you are only visiting for a week. We were staying in Olu Deniz so we planned it this time in a two week stay and took the middle weekend to do this trip, which included a stop over in a hotel and a visit to Pamukkale the next day. With an early start (6.00 am pick up) with a two hour journey to stop for breakfast and then a further two hours to Ephesus. Anyone that loves history will love this site. It is amazing and was brought to life by our knowlegable guide, Hussain. Even though the temperature inland was quite intense to walk around it would have been nice to have spent a little more time at this place to explore the ruins as we were only there about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. So worth the visit though. Some of the highlights were the library and amphitheatre which in its day had a seating capacity of 25,000. We then went to Pamukkale for an overnight stay ready to visit the ruined city and hot springs the next day . (The hotel left a lot to be desired in cleanliness and evening meal and the bar prices - but it was only overnight) We went out (4 of us) and found a nice little bar where we had a lovely evening. Next morning after breakfast we went just a five minute drive up the hillside to Pamukkale where we started our tour veiwing the calcium pools and hot spings. It is breathtaking and an amazing sight. We then toured some of the ruins but be prepared for long walks unless you use their minibus service which means you can get around everything much quicker as again restricted to time on the tour. Again a lot of work has been done on this site rebuidling the ruins and it is extremely interesting which was an extra bonus to see these sights as we thought it was just the hot springs and calcium pools. We headed home stopping for dinner at a lovely restaurant with a pool. There was a visit to an onyx factory and carpet factory, both of which were really interesting. This was a long trip but well worth the cost which was only £50 per head including the overnight stay, breakfasts and dinner. The only thing we had to pay for was lunch (15 lire) and drinks. It was a great trip, well worth the journey. Would like to go back again but holiday nearer this location to be able to spend more time at these sites.

“amazing BUT.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

really well preserved and a fascinating site. Unfortunately we went whilst on a cruise and there were four other boats in Kusadasi that day: Literally thousands of people there and almost impossible to see a thing. If you go and there are ships in Kusadasi go in the afternoon. We passed the entance again going to another site after lunch and the place was as empty as it is ever likely to be
