“I wonder why?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

An Ancient wonder of the world so we had to visit- The 3rd place on the list and the one I was most looking forward to..Frankly I was a bit let down.

All that is left is a reconstructed tower in a ruin that they have let fill with water, a shame that such a wonder has been left to decay.

It is free to visit yet other places that are not an Ancient wonder you pay for

The story is the important bit so have a read before you go to understand the historical significance

“Mostly gone - too bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

This was a very interesting site but with only one standing pillar of what was once a great and indeed one of seven wonders of the ancient world it is too bad that so little is left. It does possess interesting vistas of the Basilica of St. John, the Ottoman fort and a mosque in the background.

“Nothing left of it!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

All that stands of this Wonder of the World, is one lone column. Its a pity that what must have been an erstwhile grand structure is in such shambles with no sight of any restoration taking place, may be because its beyond that.
So, why I wonder, should it be a "Wonder of the Ancient World", when there's nothing there to see !!
Not worth the few mins we spent there.......

“Don't judge the temple by its column”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

Alright, once you reach the "temple", walk across the street to see the actual temple. The temple has an extremely extensive history but the remnants of it are not impressive. If you go to the "Temple of Artemis", a "wonder" of the ancient world, you will be greeted by a reconstructed column. Just take a quick walk across the street to see the real columns in the mosque!
