“Left soggy,................................... pun intended.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Well the Temple of Artemis is pretty much non-existent. All that remains is the original foundation smuggled under overgrowth and flooded with water and one large pillar rising from it all. This pillar is still a popular destination to visit I think due to the proximity to Ephesus and the Virgin Mary’s House, It would not be worth a trip if it was in a rural location alone. The view of the castle and basilica from here are nice and add foreground to photos with the lone pillar, but I think most people like it due to the storke’s choice in real estate perched on top of this pillar. Other than that it’s a pretty uneventful place until your three year old takes a bath chasing after frogs and turtles in the flooded pool area off to the left. It's a free visit but with no facilities and seems to always be a vendor of some sorts wanting to sell you the same stuff.

“Once great now nothing but one column”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

It was once the greatest temple with hundreds of columns with more than five meters tall, but a few thousand years later with changes in religion and earthquakes to help this temple was completely recycled to build a mosque, some churches and even the Cistern in Istanbul.
It´s a pity but history made it happen like this.
A short stop of 5 minutes is all it takes to see the place.

“Short but worthwhile visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

We walked to the Temple of Aretmis after visiting the Blue Mosque. It was worth the visit and photo opportunity while we were there, but probably not worth going out of the way to see it. It is easy to say no to the people selling books, cards and souvenirs if you din.'t want to buy anything

“worth seeing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

Not much to see here, only a single reconstructed pillar in the middle of a low valley, but definitely worth seeing one of the seven ancient wonders of the world (especially since it is so close to the ruins at Ephesus and Selcuk), and you can get a gorgeous photo of the pillar with the castle, Isa Bey Mosque and Basilica of St. John in the background.

“not much to see, but one of those "seen that" moments”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

Not alot to see, you really need to to use your mind to think about it used to look like. Worth a quick stop though and it can be added to your list of cool things you have seen - it is one of the wonders of the ancient world, after all.

Tip - Ignore the locals trying to sell you coins and other stuff
