Homeros Pension was a truly authentic Turkish experience. Dervis and his family are warm, friendly an helpful. Mamma is the best cook ever!!!! If you are looking for a clean, safe, friendly, authentic experience - go nowhere else. Our family has stayed there many times and it is always excellent!

Homeros is one of the most interesting places we've ever stayed! It's filled with Turkish and tribal antiques, a feast for the eyes. We felt like we were staying in a Turkish apartment of a hundred years ago. And the innkeepers are the sweetest of people, so helpful and friendly. Dervis is funny and warm. The rooftop view is splendid, and the open air breakfast space very inviting. Loved it!

Dervis, the owner and proprietor of the Homeros Pension, is fantastic. Simply fantastic. He's a consummate entertainer, and makes you feel like a member of his family. Between his songs and dances and excellent home-cooked food, the Dervis is the host you wish you had at every hotel you stayed in. Were I to travel to Turkey again, I'd stay in Selcuk for a few more days, and do day trips to other sites in the area, just to spend more time at the Homeros Pension.

The hotel is not fancy, to be sure, but comfortable and very homey. Expect a small room, but then again, with an expansive open air dining area and a rooftop lounge with mind-blowing sunset views, why spend time in your room?

It's a little far from the train and bus stations, but, if you call in advance, Dervis is more than happy to send a driver to come get you.

Beautifully decorated and conveniently located, this is a brilliant place to stay to recover from the crowds at Ephesus. Dervis and Sariye and their colleagues made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. The food was excellent and the roof top terrace a great place to enjoy it.

We didn't book ahead, so we were truly fortunate to find a room in this friendly, family-run guesthouse, which became our home away from home for three nights. Cosy rooms, excellent food (breakfast and optional home-cooked dinner) and a rooftop terrace, where you can enjoy the view or meet other travellers to swap tales with. All that facilitated by genuinely helpful staff, including the chatty owner Dervis, his girlfriend (who's Czech as we discovered to our surprise after we checked-in) and his sister. Whether you come to Seljuk to see Ephesus or just to chill out, this is the place to stay.

We have just stayed at the Homeros Pension and absolutely loved it. This is the place for artists, for the artist at heart, and for anyone looking for that old romantic idea of Turkey.

Dervis the proprietor is such a lovely man making everyone feel right at home and part of the family. He brought us hot drinks every time he saw us sitting down for awhile. Then he brought us dried figs and late at night as some stayed chatting after dinner in the evening he brought us a plate of hot popcorn. Single female travellers will feel right at home here.

Dinner was served in a communal style covered terrace. Mama Dervis cooked it all up. It was fresh and such nice food (a set meal). We could smell it cooking in the hall as the kitchen was right beside our room. It was not at all a problem that I was vegetarian. I loved it. The dinner was set up on individual tables but with cushioned seating lining all the walls. This made it a big communal event in which single travellers were included in all the conversation.

It is also well located. Selcuk's main attractions are a half block away and you can even walk to Ephesus under a tree lined street from the Pension.

What really makes this place special? Dervis and his hugely welcoming personality. This amazingly warm, eclectic and "old world" mix of antiques, carpets, fabrics, and all sorts of little treasures everywhere you look. This place brings alive the old romantic notion of what Turkey was like when our Western world wasn't infiltrating everything.

We recently spent three nights at Homeros on our way around Turkey, and wished we could have packed this cutie into our suitcase and taken it with us!

Homeros is a friendly, relaxed pension spread over two buildings on a quiet street a short walk from the main bus station. Dervis, his sister Sariye and their family (including delightful Turkish mother/acting chef) go out of their way to make their guests at home.

Carpenter Dervis has decorated the rooms with quirky wooden and fabric details. While not large, our room was very comfortable and had a lovely private balcony with grape vines overhead. We opted for a shared bathroom and found we were only sharing with one other room so no annoying waiting!

Breakfast is served individually rather than as a buffet when you get up in the morning, and there are optional dinners which we definitely recommend - tasty, healthy and reasonably priced.

The pension has an open-air lounge/dining area with cosy cushions and tables and also a stunning rooftop terrace where people gather to have a drink and watch the sunset in the evening.

Dervis also helped us arrange a great tour of Ephesus at a reasonable price.

Overall, we thought this place embodied many of the things we love about Turkey - friendly people, great food, lovely setting and all at a reasonable price. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for a private balcony!
