“Pleasant stay”

The rooms are unique and very nicely decorated at this family-run pension. We had their home-made dinner, which was quite a welcome change from the restaurant fare we had been eating for 2 weeks. Nice location and a lovely balcony. The place has a slight bohemian feel. We probably didn't enjoy the chattiness of the host as much as the other guests, but they're welcoming in their own way. Our room on the ground floor didn't have much of a view, either. But a decent stop in Selcuk. Oh, you can rent bikes from the pension and cycle to Ephesus. That was fun!

This was the best place we stayed in Turkey- by far!! It is not just a guesthouse, but an experience. We were warmly welcomed, nothing was ever too much trouble, we didn't want to leave! I cannot recommend Homeros Pension and Guesthouse highly enough. Breakfast was fabulous. I would also recommend going to see Osman (a friend of the owners) nearby if you are interested in buying carpet. We bought two rugs from him and the quality and price very reasonable. We had shopped around in many places throughout Turkey before deciding to buy from him. He can ship back to Australia (or other countries) for a small sum ($50 for the two carpets).
Overall, the people we met at Homeros Pension really made our time in Selchuk very special.
I'll be back!!

We'd read the good reviews so had high expectations, and we were certainly not disappointed when we arrived. The family that owns the place are lovely! So welcoming and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful, very authentic and rustic; the rooms were very cosy and we slept very well. Breakfast is a large plate of a variety of food, incl. fresh fruit, meat, eggs, bread etc., and dinner which is an extra 15TL per night is incredible! You get about 4 small courses of food, served to you on the roof terrace as you watch the sunset. It was a great opportunity to socialise with fellow travellers, the family and their friends. Overall it was excellent - I would 100% recommend coming here.

We stayed here a few weeks ago in June, as first choice to try from the choice of only 3 places in the new Discover Turkey Lonely Planet guidebook - and staying here just added another special experience to our 4 week trip driving around Turkey. Because it was on the map included in the book we wanted to minimise time in finding it (places can be hard to find at times with poor signposting and traffic in towns in Turkey and sometimes quirky road systems) but the map was spot on and then we found signposting to Homeros. Great location just a minutes walk from St Johns Basilica. and good parking to leave the car overnight just outside the door and also while we went to visit St Johns.

Firstly Dervis was so super friendly that we were on guard a bit to not be ripped off as a number of times the price given in the newly written guidebook didn't match what we were told on arriving at a place! and one look at the rooms that Dervis was showing us were so stunning that we were worried we would have to say no! we wanted wifi and found that it wasn't working at the first of his 2 sites and took us to his main house across the road and the wifi was perfect - so was the room and the terrace where the kitchen/server and chilling out area was.

The climate had become very hot and Selcuk was particularly hot when we arrived - thankfully the air con provided was perfect and the whole place was immaculately clean and comfortable - the ensuite bathroom and shower excellent - and patterns and designs and objects everywhere was lovely to see.

Reading the other reviews here about meals I wish we had arrived earlier in the evening to have been able to take opportunity of the recommended food here (and relax with a sunset from the terrace or from the excellent area right on top on the roof!) but a German guy also staying here said to us to get ready for the excellent breakfast! that it was much more than the standard tomato, cucumber and olives breakfast everywhere else as it also had fruit - so I looked forward to that and it was indeed lovely to have cherries, banana, watermelon and cherry tomatoes included (one word though a tomato managed to be found on my plate that had definitely not been washed! but that was easy to fix and I have not had any stomach upsets the entire month in Turkey)

We met Dervis' sister who was hostess the next morning and what a lovely lady! We hope she will visit us in Morocco with her hiking friends! They both love collecting beautiful and interesting things and we just loved staying in their pension and having had the special opportunity of meeting them!

We stayed at this lovely pension and would have to say after travelling around Europe for over 13 years its up there with the best.
Great hospitality from Derish and especially his sister who is so lovely, friendly and a wonderful cook.
I would also highly recommend indulging in a meal or two which is fantastic value and absolutely delicious.

We stayed 2 nights at Homeros, nice clean 1doublebed and twin bed inside the room, actually this room is for 4 people but Dervis let us stay at this room after I explained about my situation(too tall). 85TL per night, he gave us big discount. (I normally put the price I paid on here because one of the big reason I look on to Tripadvisor is to compare the price with other accomodations, hotel owners who are not confident with their hotel will not be happy with this but I believe the owners who are proud of their hotels have to have a chance to show off their cheap price with good quality of hotel as well as the travelers have a right to know the price before they get to the place, and revealing the price makes the better conditions for the travelers. Sorry for making it too long)
Room was full of small cute traditional things inside, big towel and shampoo, soap was provided too. Strong signal wifi working in the room, view of rooftop terrace was really nice, breakfast was tasty, dinner served well for 18TL, but we were little bit surprised when we paid the money for it the next day, because one coke(350ml can) price was 6TL, we felt it's too expensive.
But overall this place was very nice, full of nice people, only 100 meters away from otogar.

My husband and I stayed four nights at the Homeros Pension this June and would gladly have stayed longer, if only American vacation time wasn't so short :( Everyone at the hotel was extremely friendly. Dervis welcomed us with coffee up on the terrace; breakfast and dinner were also served up there. A word on dinner--the home-cooked meals we had at Homeros were the best we had in Turkey! Restaurant menus start to look alike after a while, but the food at Homeros stood out. There isn't a menu--you just arrange to eat dinner (at 8:30, just in time for views of the sunset!) and are served course after course of delicious food. Cold salads. Soup (the lentil was especially good). Hot casserole mezes (like beans or eggplant or potatoes in tomato sauces). Main dish. Rice or pasta. Bread. Dessert. We are very active travelers--we generally walk all day--and still this meal provided more than enough sustenance for us. We also liked the atmosphere. It's hard to beat eating on a terrace...but that's not all I mean. We have stayed in some pensions where diners are forced to mingle and aren't allowed to eat alone. Much as my husband and I enjoy meeting fellow travelers, sometimes we would rather have dinner by ourselves. We don't like not having a choice. Well, Homeros strikes a perfect balance. The dining terrace is small, allowing for community among the parties of diners if that is desired; but tables are individual and cozy, so a group can choose to keep to itself. Genius! As well as being delicious and pleasant, the dinners were an excellent value--as was the hotel itself. Our room was comfortable and lushly decorated (as are all the other rooms at the pension, although each is unique). There were all kinds of antique bottles, colorful fabrics and other adornments. We had a private hot shower and toilet, too--always a plus. The Homeros pension is in a quiet part of Selcuk, very close to the stork be-decked aqueduct, St John's Basilica, the Isa Bey Camii, and the mulberry-lined street toward the Temple to Artemis and Ephesus. It's also a short walk to the Otogar for dolmus buses to Sirince, Kusadasi, and other locations. Frankly, I think Selcuk is an under-appreciated city. People seem to use it purely as a launching point for Ephesus. And while Ephesus and especially other nearby places (Dilek Milli Park, the ruins at Priene, the hill village of Sirince) are definitely worth seeing, it's a mistake to overlook the charms of Selcuk itself. Nesting storks at dawn...St John's Basilica in the evening...so many of these charms can only be appreciated if you stay the night in Selcuk. And, for staying the night, there's no place like Homeros!
