“A must see...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

I highly recommend bundling this with ancient Ephesus in a guided tour. Mary's house is about 20 min away by bus from ancient Ephesus so don't think its walking distance. Take in the history and feel the peacefulness of the site. Our guide said NOT to drink the water because its not from a sacred font or blessed...its tap water. Be sure to dress respectfully.

“A special place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

One of the 2 recognized houses of Mary. A special experience to go there. Don't forget to bring some small bottles if you want to get some holy water. The merchandise sold on site (medals, pendants,...) turned out to be a little more expensive than what one could get at the stores near the Kusadasi port though.

“Interesting to consider”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

I do recommend a guide here, one that has a broad perspective. There's a reasonable suggested history, and the site is well preserved. It was quite worth the stop.

“Wonderful for the believers.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

This place was very touching for my family and we were happy to have had the chance to visit this area. It is a beautiful hill top area that has lovely shaded vegetation and scenic vistas on your drive to the top. There is a place to light a candle and and a wall to leave prayer intentions but you do need to have paper and pen with you as I did not see any provided. Also take along a container if you would like to have some of the water from this place. It was very crowded on the day we went but we were willing to be patient to step into St.Mary's home. I did step to the side to make sure I had time to get all of my prayer intentions said and they do move the line along quickly to accomodate the crowds. I was not husled out as I did not touch anything or take a picture and they could see I was praying. It was a well maintained site with clean restrooms. Side note: I do believe for those of you that are not moved spiritually by this sort of thing you would not find it too interesting. I did read some of the reviews that panned the place and feel as though they did not understand the venue for what it is.
