“An Honest Family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2011

I have known the family at the Tat Restaurant for 18 years...they are friendly, hardworking and extremely honest. I have lived in Turkey for the past six years and recommend all my friends and family to eat there. In recent years their food skills have begun to match their friendship skills and they have become the leading restaurant for tourists. They are people you can trust!

“Fresh food at a great price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2011 via mobile

Tat cafe and restaurant was a lovely place to eat. The produce was fresh and well cooked by the family resulting in delicious meals. Staff were warm and made us feel very welcome. Prices were very reasonable especially considering the decent sized dishes. Meatballs, sardines, and mousakka all went down a treat among our group as well as some very tasty starters. I can happily say that I'll be going back!

“Good food, friendly atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2011

We spent three night in Selcuk and ate here twice. The proprietor is a friendly Kurd with amazing language abilities. (In the same evening we watched him greet familiars in Dutch, German, English, Kurdish and Turkish-Whew!). This is a big ex-pat hangout, and you feel immediately drawn into a scene. Having said that, the food was also very good. The grilled fish was fresh, the kebobs juicy, and the mezzes were tasty, especially the baba ganoush. They aim to please, and made us feel warmly at home.

“FAMILY CONNECTIONS ARE 'TAT'!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2010

My family visited TAT Restaurant twice during our August 2010 stay.
Excellent food at a reasonable price along with good service was our verdict.

However, there was a 'downer' in that our waiter turned out to be the brother of the person owning the clothing/souvenir shop without a name the other side of the road junction on the same side of the street (opposite the big bank) and who had quite skillfully just conned my wife out of ten lira.

When challenged, said shop owner suggested that my wife was the one who had made a mistake. (It was only after we had mentioned this midemeanour to our waiter, that he advised us of his relationship ... whilst never losing the cheesy big grin that he permanently wore.)

The waiter was adamant that his bother 'just wouldn't dream of doing that sort of thing' but, when he overheard my plans to expose the scoundrel on Trip Advisor, said waiter was off down the street like a shot!

Suffice to say that the ten lira soon materalised! The owner of yet another shop nearby later informed us that there are 4 brothers working in that street and that they are noted for being crooks.

All of that said, we were never conned in the payment of our food bills and it was service with a smile throughout and could not honestly fail to recommend the place based on an experience which was nothing to do with that establishment.

The moral? Yes, give TAT a try, but avoid like the plague the clothing/souvenir shop to the left.
