“Great pension in Selcuk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2011

We stayed at the Kiwi Pension for three nights in August. The owner Alison is very friendly and helpful and it was refreshing to see a native English speaker who is also fluent in Turkish. The pension is in a good location in a quiet residential area and from there it is a very short walk into Selcuk town. Our room was upstairs and had a balcony looking out onto the street. The room was very clean with our own bathroom and we had a small fridge which was very helpful for keeping our water cool.

The other staff at the pension were very friendly including the young man that served us breakfast and the housekeeper returned our laundered clothes very promptly and immaculately.

The swimming pool is located a few kilometres away from the pension, on the road to Ephesus. As we had a car, we were able to drive there.

Alison is very knowledgable about Selcuk and the surrounding area. She recommended some great restaurants including the Selcuk Koftecesi which we visited on three occasions (the kofte is one of the best we have tried). We really enjoyed Selcuk and from our base at the Kiwi Pension, we were able to do some great day trips including a visit to the beautiful Dilek Peninsula (which is wonderful for swimming).

We would definitely recommend staying at the Kiwi Pension and it is a great base for exploring the local area.

We're a family of four and stayed here three nights in mid October 2011. Clean rooms, excellent location and a very nice town. Alison is friendly and very helpful. It was a pleasure to get tourism information and assistance from a native English speaker (she's also fluent in Turkish). We had a great stay and highly recommend the Kiwi Pension.

Room Tip: As a family of four we stayed in a room with one double, two twin beds and a bathroom. Worked out gr...

We spent three nights at the Kiwi Pension in May. It is only two blocks from the bus station and walking distance to Ephesus. Allison and her staff are very friendly and Allison was more than helpful making sight seeing decisions and bus reservations. Selcuk is a beautiful town with astounding history. We loved our time in Selcuk and would recommend the Kiwi Pension as a great place to stay.

This was a travelers dream. Excellently located just 2 blocks from the main bus station, this pension is a busy, friendly place to spend a few days.

We stayed for 5 nights, after booking only 3 and changing our minds. We had a triple room with a shared bathroom to start, and it was super clean to use. Our last 2 nights we had a triple room with private bath and it was awesome. Both times, no issues with hot water!!

The staff are really attentive and super helpful. We found Alison to be a wealth of local information, and while she tries not to force her opinion on others, she was right every time! We were there too late for pool season, but she gave us great tips on beaches, day trips to Greece, and how to get around.

The staff she employs, while their English is limited, are always really helpful and able to meet whatever your needs are. The breakfast was great, and they accommodated our early start.

Would definitely stay here again and recommend this to any future travelers.

Very conveniently located, walking distance from the Temple of Artemis, the Ephesus Museum and (if you're keen) the ruins of Ephesus. Ensuite rooms, friendly staff, and a good breakfast.

Great location close to the centre of Selcuk. Comfy beds and the aircon in the rooms is a winner.

Alison, who runs the show, is knowledgeably, friendly and fantastic for helping to organise trips and plane tickets with a minimum of fuss, extremely passionate about the area and its sights, and does a tasty breakfast.

I've got nothing negative to say and would certainly go back.
