“Nothing to offer but the view”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

Rumelihisari is a district where you can find restaurants with identical quality offering breakfast/brunch with a view of bosphorous. If you desire beautiful views but does not ask anything more than that, then all these restaurants are happy to take your money. I always wondered what these restaurants become at night. Well, I discovered that with Nar Cafe.

Nar Cafe is a typical Istanbul establishment, which bets that there enough people in Istanbul to rip off before everyone understands how terrible the place is. Again as typical restaurants in Istanbul do, they offer everything from Mexican to Italian to American. Now, this diversity in food is a deliberate sign to stay away. Unfortunately, we were invited to this place and we could not leave immediately. Anyhow, our party used this diversity and ordered Mexican, Italian and American, and we had the chance to understand how terrible each of them is. Taco came with tortilla bread, hamburger with all condiments already put to the taste of the chef, salad in miniscule quantity but to show how classy they are, in a huge bowl.

Now, on top of this, add the price of anything to drink being exorbitant, then you can feel our pain. Unfortunately, it was not over for us. This place being next to a mosque, claims that there are complaints for them serving alcohol. Hence, they do not even bother to bring the wine bottle and open next to you.

But this is Istanbul. Finding a good restaurant is very hard. If you find it, you must stick to it and do not wander out as we unfortunately did.

“Good food with great panorama”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2012

I visit Nar Cafe very often every month, it's one of my favorite places along the Bosphorus. It has a nice setting facing the Strait, you can eat at the garden or in one of the upper floors. The menu is extensive with local and international dishes but I recommend especially having breakfast there, it's fantastic with lots of choices. The staff is friendly, the owners are very nice. Usually it's open from early morning until very late in the evenings, and at the weekends they have live guitar music. The prices are above the average but it's more or less the same for all cafeterias in that area. You can also visit the Rumelihisar fortress which is only few meters from Nar Cafe.

“nice place but the burrito was not a burrito”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2011

The place is nice the staff are friendly, the menu looks great. I ordered a beef burrito. But let's be realistic it was NOT a burrito but rather a cheese steak wrap with sauteed mushrooms and such. very tasty mind you but has nothing to do with a burrito, it even came with ( delicious) french fries ... a burrito it was not, a good meal it was.

“Such a sweet Cafe!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

I have the best of memories from this place! A sweet cozy cafe, that will make you love it from the very first second!
Breakfast there is made from fresh ingredients, very well done and in good proportions.
The scenic view near Bosporus is superb!
Either if you go summer or winter you'll enjoy the view and the food!
Service is a standart normal for Turkey.

Looking forward to go back again! :-)
