“The House Cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014 NEW

Nice establishment situated right on Istiklal avenue. Prices are high compared to surrounding restaurants but service and atmosphere are both good. Nice place to sit, relax, and enjoy a nice meal.

“No thanks. VERY expensive and not good.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014 NEW via mobile

My "Coffee Frappe" was nothing more than just a Iced Coffee, which means a Coffee with Ice Cubes, and this for 16 TL which is for Istanbul more than expensive. The Coffee also tastest not really good.

Also a Coca Cola is with 9 TL not expensive for cities in central Europa but expensive for Istanbul.

They had NO apple tea and no turkish coffee. Incredible for me.

The service was also not very good.

The Service was also not very friendly.

“Excellent Atmosphere, Poor Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

House Cafe's back garden is simply beautiful but service quality is just the opposite of its beauty. Though we told the waiter to bring the beverage with the meal, we had to wait too long for the beverage after our meal was served. I had a schnitzel with mash potato, I cannot say the potato was delicious but schnitzel was good enough for me. Unfortunately, mojito was too harsh, it needed more sugar.
After all, I would go there again mostly for the atmosphere.
P.S: Beware, prices are really high.

“house cafe tesvikiye”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

there are two house cafes in tesvikiye-one right on the corner on the main street, and one halfway down a pedestrian-only street. this review is for the one on the main road. it is always crowded and hosts both the intimate conversationlists in for a good meal, as well as the bigger majority of sitting-to-be-seen crowd. during good weather you can enjoy sitting outside with flowers nearby on the sidewalk while the whole city (and its traffic) goes by...pets hang out with owners on or under chairs. inside is always crowded and is hard to get around to and from your table; bathrooms are small and tend to have a queue. the food is amazing. it's a must-do if you live there. if you're just a visitor, you can go to the other one, or any other branch of this chain of cafes.

“Nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014 via mobile

We stopped in here for a break from the weather and were pleasantly taken in by the vibe. We only had hot drinks which were very satisfactory, but the food being placed in front of other customers looked very appealing, especially the pancakes!

Only complaint is the same as for every other place in Istanbul - smoking customers really do detract from the whole experience - when is Turkey going to do something about the smoking?
