“STUNNING VIEW!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

A STUNNING VIEW over the Bosphorous and of one of the Asian bridges. The outdoor seating when the weather is nice is memorable. The service is very good and the asian food average but the location and view makes up for it. Ortakoy is just a fun place with multiple restaurants, cafes, bars, stores and outdoor vendors. A fun place to stroll if you are in that part of Istanbul.

“Terrible! Caution: please stay away!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

We ordered salmon tartar, tempura calamari inside-out sushi roll, King Prawn lemongrass risotto, Duck Leg with noodle and a glass of white wine. Only the appetizers were acceptable, yet the main courses and the wine were rubbish!
Omg, I mean it really tastes like rubbish; especially the risotto! It smells stink and sour, tastes like rotten. The king prawn was actually in baby size. The noodle was simply salty chow-mein you can find in any supermarket. And service? I dun even want to talk about it....*sigh*
Anyways, we dun understand how could this restaurant ever gained 4 stars here.
It was meant to be our romantic christmas dinner, but turned out in ruin. Thanks god my girlfriend didnt mad at me.
People, please dun come to this place.
P.S. We fell black-out asleep after returninh back to hotel for 12 hours.

“Awesome location but the food and wine did not quite match the atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

This is a fabulous location - a huge vista across the Bosphorus towards Asia, and on the left a view towards the Bosphorus bridge. Looking out of the 270deg glass windows is enchanting, breathtaking.

There's a wealthy set of people there and a prettily lit bar, so it feels kind of cool with an exotic atmosphere.

The food was mixed. My Asian salad would have been delicious - a lovely tang of fresh coriander - but the bottom of it was drowned in vinegar. The taste of excess vinegar does tend to last through the evening and, like Genghis Khan, destroy everything in its path.

The sushi starter was "ok but nothing special" according to one colleague, and the salmon tartar starter was very good.

The mains: the grilled veg was good and tasty, not spectacular but ok. The beef with orange sauce was excellent.

We ordered a bottle of Turkish Cabernet Sauvignon (145 lira - which was mid price for the Turkish reds), recommended as a light red by the the waiter. I could not drink it; you'd get the same quality for about £2.99 in Tesco. Very sharp, harsh, heavy. It did not complement the food, it battled with it as if it was sharing a boxing ring.

Finally the service was moderate. Physically it was ok - chaps going round, constantly filling up our water glasses from a jug. But the character of our waiter was rushed, rather superior and no smiling. We were made to feel like tourists, not friends.

“Beautiful view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

Almost below the bridge between Asia and Europe, the restaurant has a beautiful view over the Bosphorus.
Food was great, one of the best curry's I ever had, drinks were well mixed and prepared.
Staff was very friendly and service was fast.
Price?...expensive! i should say, very expensive but it's worthevery penny of it.
