We went to this hotel in November 2013 (last week). I searched net a lot to find the best choices for a 5 day trip to Istanbul. So if you don't want a big room (it is unusual at Istanbul's hotels), pool, fitness center with a luxury environment, Orient Mintur would be an option, as I did. Instead this hotel had clean rooms, very friendly staffs (specially three receptions), good price, nice breakfast & an average bathroom (clean).
In summery, I categorized positive and negative point in two difference groups:
+ positive: clean rooms and bathrooms, kind staff, acceptable price, close to T1 tramva station (5-10 min walk to Aksaray), close to suburban station (30 sec walk to Yenikapi), windows were almost soundproof bring us good sleep
+ negative: shampoo and liquid soap were not in packed form so I buy some from street
not related to Hotel:
+ positive: good accessibility to pharmacy, Mc Donald, Turkish restaurants and Cafe (Simiri Cafe)
+ negative: the street was crowded with some standing (and staring) guys all around, so take care at midnight. One night, a man was breaking wood sheets with his axe at 2 am near our room window! I didn't understand how other people slept without protest. Although when I call the Reception (after 30 minutes of terrible sound) he solve the problem immediately.
