“Great hotel in the perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2010

In summary this is a really excellent hotel in pretty much the perfect location in Istanbul.

It is in a quiet and very safe locality. It is in a little side street right up against the walls of the Topkapi Palace. It is within easy walking distance of the Palace, the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. It is also very close to the main shopping street in the old city (Divan Yolu), and therefore close to a host of restaurants, the Roman Cisterns and the Grand Bazaar. In the other direction it is a short walk to the Galata Bridge and Eminonu, the quay from which ferries and tour boats depart. There are plenty of good restaurants within a two minute walk and the stop for the No8 tram is at the end of the street . This is the tram to take across the Golden Horn to get to Kabatas. Thence one can walk to the Dolmabahce Palace or take the funicular to Taksim Square.

As to the hotel itself, it is very comfortable and extremely well run. The staff could not be more helpful and charming. The rooms are spotless and the beds and pillows outstanding. We paid a little extra for a superior room with a balcony and felt it well worthwhile. The restaurant in the hotel does an excellent breakfast, and the evening meal we had there was the best we had in Istanbul. If you book for three nights or more the hotel will pick you up from the airport, a significant perk as you should not even think of driving in the city.

The company which owns the hotel also owns some of the best restaurants in this part of the city, notably Imbat and Pasazade. These two are good and hotel guests get a 10% reduction.

I have been in many hotels during my numerous travels and have stayed in Youth hostels and 5 star + hotels but my stay at this hotel is the best I have ever encountered because of the people who take care of you and all the other small attentions you get the minute they open the door for you. You are treated as a VIP but not in an impersonal way or because you are wealthy (which we were not) but because they consider you almost as family. and when you visit a country such as Turkey which might appear a little more exotic then the usual Paris Rome trips this becomes very special.I do not know another chairman of a hotel that leaves you a letter in your room with his personal cell phone number and e-mail to ask for you to contact him .This is not a bluff we were able to meet him personnally the second day of our stay and he was a superb host to us The breakfast and afternoon tea all included in price of room , the complimentary supper the first evening. the wonderful restaurant and food on the roof of the hotel , and all this at extremely resonnable prices for budget conscious travelers. Believe me this is #1 in Istanbul and in my book of all hotels I have visited.

Very comfortable rooms with views over the palace gardens. Amazing breakfast! Each afternoon a complimentary cup of tea (we chose the delicious apple tea) while you chat with other guests or with hotel staff about sight-seeing. Our package included free airport transfer and a free first night meal so was excellent value. We were also given 10% discount on sister hotel restaurants which we thoroughly enjoyed and were great value and in walking distance. Staff very friendly and most helpful! Highly recommend this hotel as central and walking distance to all the sights.

The hotel is lovely, great location, brilliantly trained staff who really care about their clients. i had asked for s non smoking room, but we were mistakenly given a smoking room. No problem - the porter came up, packed the stuff we had already unpacked and moved us to the non smoking floor. We had a beautiful room, great view. Did a cooking class - great fun, then we ate the meal we had prepared. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at the hotel, they were attentive, friendly and always there to help. Really lovely touch was the box of Turkish Delight I was given as we were leaving. If you want a memorable experience, stay at this hotel. Thank our for making our stay so special.

our room was lovely, I'm handicapped and they made it work. Ask for a deluxe room, others can be small. It's clean and well maintained. Breakfast is great, staff over the top, location is fabulous. Best decision I made on the trip was staying here.

The Sirkeci Konak was fantastic. The hotel was beautiful, it have everything you needed while abroad.
The staff is what really makes this place stand out from other hotels. They could not be more available to help every guests at their hotel. They are there to greet you with a smile and answer every question you have. The staff is helpful with planning excursions and making dinner reservations. I was contacted prior to my arrival by Dilhan from guest relations to see if there was anything that they could do for me prior to my arrival and also sent a few websites about the sites in Istanbul and the restaurants.
Our room was very comfortable, cool, nice closet space, beautiful bathroom and very comfortable bed. There was a nice balcony and it was tastefully decorated.
The breakfast was complementary and was very good, nice selection of pastries, fruit, eggs and breakfast meats. Perfect way to start your day off. Afternoon tea was also nice if you needed something to hold you over to dinner. We did dine out every night but our last we chose to eat at the hotel. It was Turkish cuisine and it was great.
There is not one thing I would change about this hotel. The Turkish hospitality shown to us during our stay from everyone at the Sirkeci Konak was top notch.

After spending four nights in the Sirkeci Konak I couldn't fault this hotel in any way. Starting from the airport pick to drop off everything has been perfect. The service was truly exceptional and the restaurant one of the best I tried in Istanbul. The spa with the hamam was a finish to long days. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to hotel to anyone.
