Owner description: Dances of Colours have been offering periodical Turkish folk dances at one of the biggest theatres in Istanbul since 2001. Dances from regions all across the country are represented in this energetic show which aims to reflect the colourful culture of Turkey. The Dances of Colours performance is made up of many regional traditional Turkish folk dances as well as the highly spiritual 'Whirling Dervish' ceremony. Costumes worn remain true to their origin in keeping with their colour and style while being technically adapted for the stage. As part of the venue some good samples of Turkish dances are performed on a nicely decorated boat on Bosphorus Strait and it is now possible to have dinner & drinks during the event.

The tour met our needs and went far beyond our expectations. We are determined that we had made the best decision to book the dances of colours dinner cruise. We strongly recommend any one looking for a great dances show on the Bosphorus river.

“A fun night on the Dances of Colours Bosphorus Dinner Cruise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 29, 2012

OK, like some people have pointed out, the food was decent but not great, and the dancing was kinda cheesy (yes, the belly dancer was the best part of the show - her skill and confidence were apparent). But something about being out on the water at night just made the whole experience magical for us.

One word of caution: be sure to be down in the lobby of your hotel when they tell you the van is going to pick you up. We had thought the front desk at our hotel would call us to let us know, but my name was on the cruise reservation and my girlfriend's name was on the hotel reservation, so they did not call us, and the van left without us. Then we took a taxi but the driver didn't know exactly where our boat was, so he left us at another boat filled with Turks eating their fast-breaking evening meal. Luckily, when I explained it to the owner of that boat, he was able to direct us to where our boat was docked. We got there just one minute before the boat was leaving. Phew!

“Lousy food , terrible show , nice trip !”

Bosphorus Cruise is a must in Istanbul. I think it would have been better for us without dinner and show.

“inspiring !!”

This performances is a sipiritual ritusl shown at Dedeefendi House where one of the dervishes used to live. Today, this periodic performance takes place and gives oppurtunity to those who are interested in knowing the Mevlevi order. We strongly recommend this performance to everyone loving whirling dervishes.

“not a show but a real local experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2011

I read about Rumi before my visit to Istanbul and always wanted to see the whirling dervishes ceremony. I found several options but wanted to see a real (not a touristic one) and I decided to go to see it in Dede Efendi House. There were quite a lot of tourists but there were Turkish people attending it as well.

Me and my friends loved it a lot, the sile show as the ceremony was going on as very very informative as we we reading about what we were seeing.

Overall, this was a good exeperience to get involed in a local activity in the right place.
