“Overpriced low/medium quality hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012 via mobile

I'm now staying in this hotel this week. My organization got a group discount and my room costs EUR 75, normal price is EUR 90. Good - location. Average - service, room is small, basic setup, lower end (2 star in my humble view) breakfast. Poor - value for money, no shuttle service, hotel airport pickup is EUR 30 one way. It's cheaper to get a cab EUR 20. If I had a choice, I would have chosen something of better value.

The Centrum is situated in the old part of the city among restaurants and shops in a cobble-stoned street near the tram line. We were advised to walk alongside the tram line and it led us to the main tourist sights within minutes. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and it was adequate. The rooftop restaurant had a good view. The airconditioning worked almost too well and it was quite cold. Our room (triple configuration) was long and narrow and the beds took up most of the available space. The bathroom basin was small with insufficient space for personal belongings such as toiletries. But these were minor inconveniences and we would be happy to stay there again.

Whereas there are a lot of Istanbul's hotels advertised on the Internet as a great and luxury places to stay, which are totally different in reality (or they don't even exists), this hotel is really great surprise when you take in account money you should pay for it.

Hotel is clean and comfortable, supported with politely staff ready to help and provide you with useful advises and information. You shouldn't expect some special view from rooms, but the restaurant on the roof gives you a beautiful view on the entire Istanbul. Food is also great (with regard to breakfast, cause I paid only for B/B)

There is only one PC in the hotel (this is disadventages), with not to fast internet connections, so you often have to wait for your turn to use it.

Location is the best thing about this hotel. It is placed in the Sirkeci district, very close to the Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace, Kapali market (5 minutes walking distance), tram station (lines to to: Taxim-Ortakoy cami-Fenerbahce and so on, or lines to Sultanahmet-Topkapi-Kapali-metro). Hotel is also very close to train stations. The location is in the old district of Istanbul, so you have to be careful and to take account on the tourist hunters. Of course, you shouldnt be afraid of it, because everywhere in the old part of city, there is a lot of tourist as well as lot of people selling some things, asking for tip etc.

Hotel has couple of facilities. There are a sauna, turkey bath, massage and a small pool devoted to sauna and turkey bath program. It doesnt looks modern and exclusive but you should visit.

Environment and appearance of the hotel are not promising anything special. Street where the hotel is placed looks dark and narrow, but its safe.

Nevertheless, I like this hotel. If I paid it more than I did, probably I wouldnt be to much satisfied. From this point of view, it is not anything spectacular but good for that money.

During my recent visit to Istanbul from 2nd to 5th Oct'11, I stayed in this hotel. The location of hotel is fantastic. It is infact strolling distance from Hagia sofia, , blue mosque, archeological museum, grand bazar etc. The tram stations of Gulhane and Sirkeci are just around on either side. Istanbul being a very free and safe city, you can move around at leisure till well in to the late evening. Breakfast in the rooftop resturant was reasonably good. Rooms are a bit small, but then you are not there to be locked up inside the room. Rooms are tidy and towels are changed everyday. Very quiet place( I read a lot complaint of noise). In all it is Ok to stay here. If i happen to be in istanbul, I may prefer to stay here again, on the merit of location.

We booked our accommodation for 3 nights through Hassle FreeTravel agency in Canakkale. We arrived at the hotel 1.30am after a very uncomfortable bus journey from Gallipoli. We were expecting a room that the agent had shown us on his computer.
We opened the door to 1A, an L Shape hallway (arms length wide) with twin beds and ensuite. It was so pokey. After much complaining the night clerk assured us there was nothing else available but Suzie the receptionist might be able to give us something better the next day. I can't help thinking this is a common practice in this hotel. Beware! She did find us a better room the next morning. The hotel was tainted by our first experience. The positive are its location. Breakfasts were 3/10

We arrived late night after a long day touring around 10pm and our one night stay had been arranged by a tour company. We are not people who would usually complain about an establishment generally speaking we're flexible and easy going but staff at this hotel were down right rude. As we approached the front desk we could see a disgruntled look on one mans face and his attitude matched it. They didn't even want us there, if it hadn't been so late we would have gone somewhere else. He was snappy, un-helpful and generally rude. As for the rooms they were basic but we could hear the people in the room next door quite clearly and the beds were uncomfortable. Breakfast was about the only thing this hotel had going for it, would not stay there again!

We stayed at the Hotel Centrum for 4 nights in May 2011. We had booked our accommodation on the Internet directly with the Hotel for €100 per night, including breakfast,t and paid one nights deposit.
A day or two before we were due to arrive, I sent a confirmation email and was quoted a room price of €82 per night, also including breakfast. Not sure if the Hotel had a record of my initial booking or had misunderstood my email. Naturally, though we took this and after having checked in, was extremely happy with the hotel.
Susann, the receptionist, is very helpful and friendly. She was also the person that I had been emailing initially. She has very good English, but sometimes it can be difficult to get the message across.
The hotel is in a very central location, within a pedestrian area surrounded by great restaurants and within easy walking distance to the bosphorus, spice market, grand bazaar, Topkapi Palace, and the wonderful mosques that everyone wants to see, making it very easy for independent travel. Also within easy walking distance to a tram stop.
The hotel is very clean and our room, including ensuite, was very comfortable.
A lift services all levels and wi-fi was free of charge and available in our room and lobby
Breakfast is served on the top floor of the hotel and the cost was included in the room tariff. It was fairly basic but there was plenty to suit anyone. The view however was wonderful. It overlooks the rooftops to the Bosphorus.
The hotel arranged a mini bus transfer to the airport for us together with some laundry and we thought both good value.
We intend to return to Istanbul and when we do, will definitely stay here
