“Best service ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2007

This is my first experience with a family owned hotel. I can't add more about the quality of the service provided and already mentioned by the previous reviews. The manager, Seda, Sami, Mezut and the rest of the staff were all great, always ready to help with the smile. It's a small hotel well located in Beyazit district very close to Tram and the major attractions. It's not a luxury hotel but EXTREMLY clean. Yes that's true you hear some noise in the hallway especialy if you're close to the elevator but what you can do, it's human issue especially because of those coming drunk late at night. Anyway if you're looking for a nice, clean, well located and most of all great service and value, this is the one. Also no need to hire a guide in Istanbul. Just when you decide to go somewhere talk to anyone at the recepetion especially Seda, she will give an extremly detailed itinerary with routes, timing, prices and all the tips to make it easy for you. Again I've been to many hotels around the world and never had such an outstanding customer service.

I thought this was a solid small hotel. The best thing about it was the location. I am never fond of being in the middle of tourist areas and instead prefer to be in a real neighborhood. This hotel is a short easy walk along a main street to the main tourist sights.

I suggest you make an inquiry as to the condition of the street around the hotel. Turks like to work on their streets from midnight to 5 AM and this can wreak havoc on your sleep as its very loud.

The woman who works during the day goes above and beyond normal customer service to make sure you figure everything out.

My only criticism is the wireless. Ask to be moved if they book you in a room on what I believe is the north side of the hotel as the wireless will not work in your room. If my orientation is wrong then its the room furthest away from the elevator.

Very friendly staff, nice lobby, GREAT location, nice but small rooms, very nice rooftop cafe and good breakfast. Only problem we had was the noise level. A few nights there was road construction outside, which was not the hotel's fault, but apart from that there was still quite a bit of noise just from room doors opening/shutting, etc. We would have suggested investing int some carpet or sealing the doors better to help cut down on some of this. Other than that, great place to stay and would definitely stay there again. Also, the kebap shop next door is cheap and good food!

I stayed here for four nights over last weekend
It is brilliantly located- only 5 minutes from Tram
The Hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are great- nice firm beds, has wireless access for the internet.
The breakfast which is served on the roof terrace is delightfull.
This hotel is excellent value for money.
But Best of all
is the friendliness helpfullness of ALL the staff
Thank you all very much and I will def stay again on my next visit to Istanbul

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Niles. The hotel is small and intimate and we have never experienced such warm and hospitable service before. We loved our weeks tour of Istanbul, but it would not have been as memorable if we had not stayed at Hotel Niles.
We stayed in a clearly adequate room that was very economical, clean and secure. We ate a lovely complimentary continental spread for breakfast each day with cheeses, fruit, pastries, hard boiled eggs and omelet, yogurt and cereals etc.
What makes this hotel so out standing is not the building or the fixtures but the staff. It is run by a small family staff and each is dedicated to the well being of it guests. Seda welcomed us with a guide conversation of our stay. She covered everything a first time visitor to Istanbul might want: advice on where to eat, how to get around without a car, what we should not miss (marking a map of Istanbul with routes, and locations). The Hotel is not in a very pretty part of the city. It is crowded; the streets are narrow; the neighbors are hand labor shops and small stores for the most part. But, the location is very convenient in the heart of the city relatively close to the major downtown attractions of Istanbul and Seda showed us how to get around without taxi or car, by walking short secure routes using the Tram for most city attractions. Seda was available almost every day to answer our questions and make suggestions. The rest of the staff was very helpful as well.
Overall I would say this is probably the best hotel staff we have ever encountered on holiday. Perhaps not the most luxurious hotel but, it was newly remodeled, clean, economical and comfortable and the staff made it so that we want to come again to Istanbul and stay at the Hotel Niles.

Just returned to USA from Turkey. Spent 2.5 weeks there and from 23-29 Uune in Istanbul at this hotel. Simply stated, our review of the stay here is the same as others. It was just great and a great value. Seda and the staff really were fantistic. They were so helpful and when we had trouble with our AC they immediately moved us without question and in fact at their insistence. The breakfast on the roof overlooking the city is a great way to start the day. The rooms are just fine but do not expect fancy. The hotel is easy walking distance to just about everything. The only negative is not real close to restaurants but only 6 blocks or so away there are many. My wife and I travel quite a bit on business and use to live in Scotland. For us, Istanbul is at the top for places to visit and for that matter Turkey as a whole. If you go to Istanbul, you really need at least 3 full days to see it. We had 5 full days and were on the go quite a bit. Again, great hotel for value, location, and staff. A couple of unique things about Turkey and Istanbul - dress conservatively men and women, sellers can be very persistent in their efforts but we figured ways to deal with it (Spice Market especially persistent), Istanbul is easy to walk and follow the map but very few street signs, use the car service Seda can set up and not airport taxi, they really do appreciate your efforts to speak some key Turkish words, very friendly people. Favorite restauirants for us (and walking distance to hotel) - Mozaic Cafe, Cozy Terrace (view from roof is fantastic). Try and go to Galata Twoer and Taksin Square and you'll see a very European city and that was interesting. Agree about the do not miss but also do not miss the Basicalla Cistern.

I spent 3 nights here from 31 May & found it a pleasant place to stay - clean & comfortable & approx 10-15mins walk to the Blue Mosque. Tram stop is very handy & it's a great way to get around. The hotel staff are all very helpful & speak good English. I had been on an Insight tour for 12 days, staying 4-5* hotels & I have to say the most comfortable bed I had in all Turkey was at Hotel Niles! Also the best selection of English TV channels & an air conditioning system that I could operate as well!! Small but perfectly adequate bathroom with very good shower. Excellent breakfast served each morning & I really enjoyed sitting out on the rooftop terrace. The hotel is situated in quite an interesting area, surrounded by clothing & leather outlets & the little narrow streets are humming with activity during the day. As a solo woman traveller I did not feel at all unsafe in this area.
I would not hesitate to recommend Hotel Niles & consider it great value for money.
