“Nice little hotel, well located and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

I only stayed for one night, as I was meeting a friend at another hotel where she was for work, but I was recommended to this hotel by another friend, and it seemed really nice. The customer service for making the reservation was super efficient and they sent a bunch of information about the city before I arrived. The hotel was very clean and in good condition. Breakfast was really good, in a rooftop dining room that would have been even better if good weather (raining and cold when I was there). Super location near the Grand Bazaar and a short (10 min) walk to the main sights in Sultanahmet, plus less than 5 minutes to the main tram line that goes over to Beyoglu. The room was clean and stylish, if a bit small. I think my room might have been pretty cramped for two people for more than just a few days, but on the other hand you don't want to be in your room all the time in Istanbul!

I would totally stay there again if I go back. I was sorry to have to move to the other hotel for the rest of my stay this time.

From the moment we arrived till the moment we left everybody who worked in the hotel was very nice, professional and helpfull!
The hotel is nicely located in the old part of Istanbul, close to the Blue mosque, the Grand Bazaar and the tram is close by too. Even though your in the old centre, you hardly hear the street noises in your hotel room as its is well isolated.
The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and a very nice rooftop Terrace garden where you will have your daily breakfast. ( which is very nice too, lots of fresh fruit and yummy things to eat).
Highly recommend this hotel!!

I highly recommend the Hotel Niles. A group of 5 friends stayed here just last week- March 2013- and everyone totally enjoyed the hotel. We selected varous room types for the single room to the junior suite with turkish bath and all were uniformely clean, comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant on the top floor offered a good complementary breakfast buffet and afternoon tea with great views of the sea. The Niles is very conveniently located to most of the major tourist sights and it just 3 blocks from the tramline which is a fast and inexpensive way to travel. The staff is fabulous! Everyone from Kemal and Yilmaz at the front desk to Murat the bellman and the team in the restaurant went out of their way to make our stay really enjoyable. The car service to and from the airport was very reasonable and an excellent way to begin and end your turkish adventure.

Room Tip: I had a single room on the 5th floor that was very comfortable and the junior suite on the second fl...

The staff here is impeccable. We stayed in a small double room on the first floor, the last room on the floor to be exact. There seemed to be a cheaper part of the hotel and a nicer part. They have separate staircases and elevators for each. Idk how the nicer side looked, but we were happy with our room although it was very small. There was a short hallway with coat closet and safe and the bathroom was very nice, just small. Nice rainfall shower head and the clear bowl basin sink. Not any storage or counter space in the bathroom though. The room was decorated nicely except for one wall was painted black and they attempted to stencil something in silver paint on it and it didn't look very good. There was also a desk in the room and a stand for suitcases which left very minimal room for walking. There was a mini fridge but it was stocked to the brim so we had to remove stuff to use it at all.

They have tea time daily from 3-5 on the rooftop terrace which is nice. There's an indoor and outdoor part to the terrace and the breakfast and tea are in the indoor part but you can sit inside or outside. The breakfast was okay. We hung out a lot on the terrace because our room was so small and cramped and we were always alone up there except for a bartender, who was usually this guy named Ilker who was the bomb. He would always offer to bring us tea refills and cookies and ask us if we needed anything from him.

Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again but I might would spring for a bigger room next time.

What a great hotel! We stayed there earlier this month-March 2013- and all the rave reviews are completely justified. It's a very well run hotel, and we couldn't recommend it more highly!
We stayed for six nights,in a small room with an excellent power shower.
The room was on the second floor at the front of the hotel, overlooking a small street with lots of little businesses-most entertaining.Very good breakfasts- we especially liked the freshly baked cakes and biscuits.Tea in the afternoon was an added bonus. The staff were very attentive and helpful.

Room Tip: We went for a cheaper smaller room; for the location, the value for money couldn't have been beat...

Called the hotel Niles ( as in miles) in English but Nill- Ez in Turkish. Useful if you need to ask where it is, as we did. We chose this hotel because of the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. Yes, the staff are just as amazingly friendly and helpful as other reviewers say. This started before we even got there with speedy and helpful advice provided to email queries we had sent. Our room was not enormous but had ample space and was very well appointed and arranged for its size. Every day when we came back, the room had been cleaned made up and tidied. The roof terrace and cafe had super views over the water and the wide range of roof tops and buildings which help make up Istanbul. We found breakfast more than sufficient and the complimentary tea, biscuits and nuts between 1500 and 1700 made an excellent opportunity to relax between morning and evening expeditions.

If you arrive in the evening, don't be put off by the appearance of the surroundings, which seemed very typical of Istanbul to us, after much exploration. The location is excellent for exploring the older parts of the city and, as other reviewers have said, we felt quite safe walking.

We booked rooms for ourselves and some friends we were meeting from Australia. They were very well travelled and also thought the hotel hotel excellent value for money and the staff to be among the most friendly and helpful they had experienced.

We found our own way there from Sabiha Gocken airport by catching a Havitas bus to Taksim Square, 12 Turkish Lira each, collected on the bus. At Taksim Square there was a short walk to what looks like the entrance to an underground Metro. Here we took the funicular to Kabatas station ( the only one as there are only two stations, one at each end). The automatic turnstiles took small plastic tokens, called jetons. These cost 3 Turkish Lira per person from a nearby machine. The machine took either coins or notes up to 20 Turkish Lira max, and gave change. At Kabatas, we caught the tram to Beyazit (Grand Bazaar). This used tokens and again cost 3 Turkish lira per person. They were purchased the same way as for the funicular. The tram runs past many of the attractions: the river, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Cistern and gives you an excellent feel for the area. (In fact the tram lines make excellent navigation aids. Just follow them to get to the water, many of the sights and back again.) When you get off the tram, the hotel is down a small road on the opposite side of the tram from the mosque.

We had a short break in Istanbul, our first trip to the city, and rate Hotel Niles as one of the best city hotels we have stayed in. The airport pickup, organised by the hotel, was inexpensive and made for a relaxing start. The hotel staff are outstanding - friendly, helpful and always on hand. Our budget room, though small, was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and kept spotlessly clean. We found the breakfast buffet great - cereals, fresh fruits, salads, local cheeses, cold meat and fresh bread, with cooked eggs an option. The rooftop terrace is also a welcoming bar in the evening and there is complimentary tea and and a selection of pastries mid-afternoon. The location is great, a short walk to major sites or to a tram stop for easy connections to the best restaurants, shopping etc. Don't miss it!

Room Tip: No problem with street noise and hotel is generally quiet and peaceful. Small rooms are fine for a s...
