“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

We were staying 2 nights and found that this is very recommended hotel to stay while you are in istanbul and want to stay near to the famous Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and Haga Sophia mosque.
At first, we were booking at the other Faros within same area. However, due to hotel's check in system problem, they 'upgraded' our reservation to this Faros Sultan Ahmed at their cost.
The staffs are very friendly, room & amenities are nice, and most important, it's located at 'the heart' of Sultan Ahmed area, the tram station is just an inch away from the hotel.
Not to mention, they have a very nice restaurant serves great food

We just got back from Istanbul. We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights.Very close to all the historic sites including Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Grand Bazar, Cemberlitas Hamami( the Turkish Bath) the underground Cistern just to name a few..
The Tram stop is very close.
The staff was very helpful and friendly helped us in finding good shopping, dinning and places to visit. The room at the back was quite but did not have any views.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for friendly staff and great location.

Room Tip: stay at back to avoid noise

If it hadn't been for not having a room available for our first night even though we had booked weeks earlier (they did transfer us to another of their hotels for one night), they would have received excellents all around. We stayed five nights. The staff was terrific and very helpful. The hotel is two minutes from the Blue Mosque, three minutes for the Hagia Sophia, 10 minutes from the Topkapi Palace and right on th tram line. The breakfasts are great and the restaurant has good food. There are lots of other restaurants near by. Erkut the Front Office Manager was excellent. Great place to stay.

Have just returned from a three night stay here. The hotel is well positioned for the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia, as well as the Grand Bazaar. When not walking, the nearby tram stops gave easy access to the public transport system.

The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Rooms at the front afford a view over the street, and might be a little noisy because of the traffic, but at the back have no view and are much quieter. We had booked a twin room, but when we arrived there was only a double available. The staff were friendly and helpful, and arranged a foldaway bed to be put in a larger room than we had paid for, for one night, and we moved to a twin on the second night when it was free. Apart from having to pack, the staff did everything to make the transfer painless.

The breakfast was a buffet style with plentiful fruit, cheese, ham and sundry breads. There were also a couple of hot options, as well as decent coffee and tea.

Overall I would recommend this hotel as offering good value in a convenient central location.

Hotel was very clean. Rooms were pretty, functional, and comfortable. Price was very reasonable. Staff were helpful at all times and did their best to make us feel welcome. Hotel restaurant was one of the best in the immediate area. Could not go wrong with the food or atmosphere. Hotel is just off the gulhane tram stop and only a short walk to Sultanahmet. If you want to go to Istanbul and be close to the sights in a nice, comfortable hotel, this is your choice.

We have just spent four nights at the Faros Sultanahmet, and would happily have spent four weeks there if we could. One or two reviewers have mentioned noise, and yes, there was a certain amount - but this is a hotel on a busy boulevard with shops, trams, tourists and main attractions, so hardly a peaceful location. However, we asked for a quiet room, and were given no. 403 on the top floor (with a good lift service) and were not disturbed by anything more than the distant early morning calls to prayer.
Our room was spacious and very comfortable, with a well-stocked bathroom, and kept beautifully serviced by Hassan our cleaner. In fact, all the staff were very helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble to ensure that our stay at the Faros was as enjoyable as possible, even to arranging our taxis to and from the airport. If I had to pick individuals, I would mention Servet, Mert and Rahman, and the delightful Neda.
Breakfast was really something, and we were spoiled for choice, but starters included musli with apricots, figs, walnuts and a drizzle of yummy honey, and a glass of gorgeous apricot juice; then ham with a variety of cheeses, tomatoes, cucumber, or else mushrooms and buttery scrambled egg; and then fresh fruit to finish - strawberries, grapes, banana - enough to keep us going well into the afternoon!
The Faros Sultanahmet is ideally located for a short walk to 'must see' treasures such as the Blue Mosque and Haghia Sophia, the Cistern, and the fabulous Grand Bazaar. And with a tram stop just along the street, it was easy to hop on and travel out of the centre to other destinations like the Spice Market and (my favourite!) the Wednesday Market at Fatih which is jam-packed with all sorts of glorious goodies.
We will certainly stay at the Faros again in the future, and recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable no-frills central hotel in Istanbul.
