I read the reviews on Trip Advisor for this hotel, and booked it because of the great reviews. This website is a great service as the reviews are really what counts in booking a hotel. This was a great experience, and I highly recommend this wonderful hotel.
The rates are very reasonable, the hotel is charming, the location is fabulous..right in the old city of Istanbul...combining the charm of the old city with wireless internet in the rooms! You can't beat that! The rooms are lovely, the housekeeping service is excellent and the room is very clean. For the price you can't beat it.
Most of all it's about the people who run the hotel. The service is fabulous, and you are made to feel like you're at home. My friend and I are leaving tomorrow, and I feel sad about leaving this hotel, and the nice people who work here. They tended to every one of our whims...gave us honest advice...helped us to avoid being ripped off, which is very common here in Istanbul, especially at the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market. Selcuk, the Manager, was very helpful, and the other manager, Mustafa, was an absolute delight. He picked us up from the train station the day we arrived from Athens, and he is taking me to the airport tomorrow, and he even brought me to the Spice Market and came shopping with me! I adore him and wish I could take him back to NY!! He would be a great manager at any top ranking hotel in NYC. He is a very special person.
He recommended a local restaurant near the hotel, and we've gone there every night. It's called DOY DOY...the food is fabulous and cheap. It's where the locals go. In fact, tonight I was too lazy and tired to walk up the hill, and the restaurant has a delivery bike. The delivery is very different here. They bring the food on regular plates....you eat...and then they come back and pick up the plates, and then you pay. Very interesting!
This hotel is in the old Sultamanet area of Istanbul, which is where you want to stay. It's very centrally located, and you can walk anywhere from here.
Enjoy the Garden House in Istanbul. I am off to Budapest, and am staying at the Starlight Suiten Hotel, which is number one on Trip Advisor there!!!!
