“great hotel with an AMAZING LOCATION.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2010

we decided to travel to turkey in the end of june.our travel agent booked us in sultanhan hotel.at that point we were not so happy with her booking us into this hotel as we thought that it was not a part of a big chain like intercontinental or crowne plaza.
but,we were wrong.
sultanhan is a beautiful boutique hotel, with the BEST LOCATION.it is so near to all the tourist hot spots (eg:- blue mosque, covered bazaar, etc.)
rooms are okay.it would have been better if they could provide a complimentary tea/coffee maker.
the terrace restaurant has a beautiful view.even if you do not have a meal there,do go there just for the view.
the nearby tramway stations is cimberlitas.
overall,a wonderful stay.would love to come back again.

We stayed at this hotel in early July during a 4-day visit to Istanbul.

The hotel is in a great location - on a street just off of the main thoroughfare in Sultanahmet. So it's close to the tram line and within walking distance of Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, and the old turkish baths.

Our room was nicely furnished with good A/C. The service at the hotel was also very good, as they provided suggestions for restaurants and made other arrangements for us as needed. Although there isn't a concierge the front desk folks were always helpful.

The breakfast was perfectly fine for us - not extravagant but certainly enough for us to fill up before heading out for the day.

Another nice plus for this hotel was the fact that they have their own sauna and hamam (turkish bath). The prices are comparable to the more historic hamams but you can have a private experience -- and in my view a higher quality experience.

Great hotel, great location and great room. Staff very friendly at check-in. Very helpful with the luggage. Room very clean, very spacious, good view from balcony. Wi-fi worked wonderfully with our laptop, it was free. Beds very comfortable. TV and air-conditioning worked perfectly. The location near all of the attractions (Blue Mosque, Topkapi) etc. and a pedestrian shopping street make this hotel a gem. We were able to walk to everything. BTW we are in our mid sixties and even my wife never complained about the walking. Breakfast was included in the price. Very nice lobby that even had an English language newspaper to read. Would definitely return.

Stayed here for a few nights while exploring Istanbul. Hotel itself is clean, well-renovated and well-maintained. Location was ideal - easy walking to the historical sites (and over the hill directly to the ferry terminal), but set back far enough west to give you a little breathing room from the crush of the tourist crowds.

One note, the hotel is close to a main street, but is actually on a side street that cars can only access from the opposite direction. If you're taking a cab back from somewhere, be sure to grab one of the cards from the front desk with directions for taxis, or just get off on Divan Yolu and walk 50 feet to the hotel. Also, no business center, but there is a laptop you can ask for at the front desk to check email etc from the lobby.

We stayed at the Sultanhan hotel for five and then two days in May. We could not have been more pleased with the hotel.
Location: perfect location in the old center, yet quiet and very safe,.walking distance to all sights and tram. All conveniences around the hotel.
Staff: excellent and extremely helpful and friendly. Everyone spoke English.
Food: breakfast is first rate, fresh and plentiful.
Hotel: super clean, very nicely furnished and classy decoration. excellent common area.
small hiccup is that the air seemed off but the heat was bearable in may. we would go back any time.

I echo the majority of reviewers. It's a nice hotel, very well located for the key sites, shopping and restaurants. Difficult to fault it. Friendly service and nice rooms. I'm only marking it slightly down because it was expensive - But maybe that's me getting grumpier with age! If you go you won't be disappointed.
