“A real gem in superb location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This small boutique hotel has it all !
Firstly location. It is in the heart of the old city - 10 minutes easy walk to main sites of Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia & Topkapi Palace & the Grand Bazaar in the other direction. It is also 2 mins from the main street & tramline. Yet it's location in an almost pedestrian side street means calm & tranquillity.
The hotel itself is small just 40 rooms on 4 floors with lift so quiet inside too. The main lobby is large with sofas & chairs. On the top floor is an excellent restaurant & open air terrace with far reaching views over the old city & Sea of Marmara. A great place for a pre dinner drink whether you eat in or out.
The rooms are traditionally furnished, spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed & bathroom with bath & shower over. All you need. No they are not large rooms as previously mentioned by some but who stays in their room on a city break! Free wifi is available throughout hotel & signal on the whole was good.
The staff all speak excellent English & are extremely welcoming, helpful & friendly. All on the concierge desk gave good clear advice & booked tours & restaurants for us when asked. The restaurant manager welcomed us as old friends each evening for our terrace drinks.
The breakfast buffet is fresh & plentiful with hot & cold buffet choices. The 'specials' evening menu in the terrace restaurant on our first evening was a good introduction to Turkish cuisine.
There is a small intimate hamman but we didnt use it.
Prices v good value for the location in heart of a large city.
Highly recommend as a city break base.

Room Tip: All very similar & good

The staff were consistently of the highest standard.
The hospitality was as if we were family.
The concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable.
We stayed at the hotel on two occasions and experienced the same level of quality each time.

Room Tip: rooms at the front of hotel had good views.

There are many good hotels in this part of the city and most are good. I liked this particular hotel better because I was with my parents who don't like to climb up and down and this hotel was on same surface as the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace.

Room Tip: I am not sure, though I liked my room. It was large and comfortable.

The hotel is in Sultanahmet area with walking distance to Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Bazzar, and most of the major attractions. The short cab ride to Taksim Square and you can get some nice tours from the hotel. The hotels is well kept and food is great. If you want to be close to everything, have a great service, experience, but not break a bank - this is the place. Highly recommended.

lovely hotel, large room and pretty. Although, the bar has been turned into a juice bar; Concierge was VERY helpful and recommended guide who truly made the trip memorable; location is perfect - easy walk to everything city center.

beautiful hotel with a glamorous entrance and reception area. Staff couldn't be more helpful when we arrived. The room was in a quiet spot, clean and comfortable with a laptop safe, minibar, air conditioning and TV.
The rooftop terrace was a delight and we ate breakfast there each morning. Nice selection of breakfast regalia. Take ur photos up on the top terrace!
This is a hidden gem in a quiet cobbled avenue away from the hustle and bustle.
5 minutes walk to the Blue Mosque and other historical attractions. Restaurants 2 minutes away.

Will definitely return to this turkish hotel.

This was a great find and we spent a terrific three nights in the Sultanhan as a prelude to a 10-day cruise on the Aegean. The lobby was warm and inviting, in an old-school European sort of way, and the front desk folks were very friendly and helpful. The English was pretty good, but could have been a little better, in our opinion. The room and bath were fine: clean, bright and nice size. The rooftop restaurant had absolute stunning views over the Sea of Marmara and the Bosporus to the north, and the Istanbul skyline all around. Domes, minarets and an enchanting skyline...especially at sunrise and sunset. The included breakfast buffet was inviting, with a nice array of cheeses, cold-cuts and fruit. Some unusual but tasty items too, including olives, dried fruits, and lots of things to put in your yogurt. No bagels (duh!) but some interesting baked goods. But the location was the key advantage to the Sultanhan: a quiet street (didn't hear much traffic or the frequent calls to prayer but just a short walk to everything, including the main tram line. This was a great spot to be in, and it made our Istanbul visit a pedestrian joy,.
