“Best location, nicest staff, sweet room, delicious breakfast, Free WiFI!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2010

My friend and I stayed at The Stone Hotel for TEN nights ( Nov. 3- 13, 2010). I had found the listing for the hotel on line and took it on faith and trust what everyone else had said. It is ALL TRUE! The location is excellent. You are literally steps away from everything- the mosques, the Grand Bazaar, the Cisterns, the tram line, the Bosphorus but in a quiet, private neighborhood. The staff is friendly, helpful, and fun. There is a FREE computer in the lobby and there is FREE wifi in all the rooms. We had just come from Egypt and paid $6 for 1/2 hr. and up to $30 a day for Wifi - so that is quite a savings. The rooms are sweet, the bathroom is large, and the breakfast buffet is more than adequate with cheese, meats, vegetables, bread, hard boiled eggs- more than enough to get you going. We got a great rate of 50 euros a night. I think it was because it was off season and because we stayed so long. I would certainly stay there again when ( not if) I return to Istanbul. If you stay more than 4 nights they will do a free airport pick-up. Because we stayed so long we also got it free back to the airport. Really, I can't recommend this place highly enough. You can't go wrong. Carolyn

A nice and friendly hotel and although in a quiet street, right in the heart of the historical center. Only a few minutes walk to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia and Topkapi Palace. A hospitable reception, good beds and well cleaned rooms. Topservice from a helpful staff. Nothing to complain about what so ever.

Stone Hotel is a fantastic option for those looking for a comfortable stay in a clean hotel with extremely friendly service and in a prime location, close to the magnificent sights of Sultanhamet in the old district of Istanbul. We would definitely recommend this hotel where we enjoyed 4 fantastic nights accommodation and our hosts at the Stone Hotel were able to provide recommendations of all sorts: from restaurants and cafe's to the best Bosphorous cruise and roof top terrace for a sunset drink. Fantastic people.

My wife and daughter and I spent 6 nights here and had a great time. Rooms were modern and clean, we were just steps from the Blue Mosque and all of Istanbul's ancient attractions but it was the staff which made the stay so enjoyable. Ask Ramazan for traditional dance lessons or how to smoke a water pipe. He and Murat the manager speak excellent English and are most helpful and gracious. Muca provides an excellent breakfast and she and all the staff are delightful. The rooftop dining was not in operation maybe due to the lateness of the season but there are excellent views and sunbathing up there. We also enjoyed the quiet location and the enclosed ancient courtyard.

Because of the good tripadvisor ratings we called Stone Hotel once we reached instanbul. They gave us a discount that made it worth our while and this turned out to be a value for money hotel. Its location is great. Close to the main sight-seeing. The problem with staying in the area is that everything is so touristy. So with convenience comes the hassle and expensive mediocre food.

The hotels morning breakfast buffet that was included was adequate but nothing fancy. The rooms are comfortable and again - nothing fancy. In fact there is a lot of poor finishing. We were also first shown to a nice spacious room with a view but it turned out that the AC wouldnt work there and had the hassle of moving to another room in the night when we got back from sight-seeing. We had to move all the things ourselves too.

The staff are very friendly and speak good english so its very easy to communciate with them. But they dont really go the extra mile, for eg, they were trying to get us to move the next day, no help with the move. They came to pick us up but didnt even carry 1 of our littlest of bags.

So if its location and a clean decent hotel you are interested in, I would recommend this hotel

The hotel is not big, but very well located. It is not on the busy tourisict street. But Sultan Ahmet Square, Aya Sofia and Blue Mosque just a five minute walk from the hotel There is plenty to see and do in the area (museums, famous buildings ) and everything was walking distance from the hotel. The room was clean, bathroom clean, everything in order. The staff was great very helpful and friendly that felt as if i was at home. I would highly reccomend Stone hotel !
