“Excellent Sisha”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Located just near the Grand Bazaar, Cemberlitas on the Tramway.

Lively, friendly and happy. Try the mint and lemon Sisha and mint and lemon tea!

There are several places in here all selling the same story but the one on your left as soon as you enter is the best.

“Best place to hangout in Sultanahmet!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

This is the best place to smoke a water pipe(Nargile) in Istanbul. When I visited Istanbul for 4 nights I ended up going there almost every night. It was a madrasa(not sure if it still is) with an alley leading to several water pipe establishments. Service is not the same at all places. I would recommend going to the establishment on your immediate left as you enter the alley. The guys are great and they kept re-supplying us with fresh hot coals. Their chai is great of course, but I would also recommend the mint tea which I found very soothing. I was mesmerized with the decor and with the variety of lamps all around. I Would definitely go there again when I am in Istanbul.

“A Tourist Trap... Not A Genuine Turkish Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013 via mobile

After reading the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor I wondered if we had arrived at the wrong place, unfortunately I was mistaken...

If your idea of a true cultural experience is to visit Disneyland then this might be the place for you. With cheesy techno music videos blaring from the many wall-mounted tv's it's hard to engage in much conversation.

Outside, a friendly greeting beckons you in but from the moment you enter the staff appear disinterested... except for when it comes to coaxing you to order far more than you need, including the beautifully-presented but unhygienic fruit (ie. sitting there for hours and being progressively covered in ash) that's spread across the coffee tables.

This place looks nice and glitzy but it's simply a tourist trap designed to herd people in and out, and to accept their tourist dollar without much care for a genuine experience.

My advice would be to find something less touristy (ie. full of locals) and more authentic (ie. no blaring music), where the owner or staff are happy to share or explain the process and tradition, and who care about their guests having an enjoyable and memorable experience. This is what I've come to expect of Istanbul, it's a wonderful city and I've had an amazing time thus far but this sheesha experience was laughably pathetic.

I've given it 1 star because I took a nice photo...

Finally, I was informed by a local business owner that the picture advertised on Trip Advisor is actually of the nearby mosque...

“Best Nargile (Waterpipe - Sisha) experience ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

You may smoke your Nargile (Waterpipe - Sisha) in a historical place in the heart of Old City. Place is just between Cemberlitas and Beyazit squares
