“Do stay there only if you have no other choice”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2010

What I usually need from hotel is: clean bed and room, hot water and Internet access - these (together with price and location) are my main criteria for rating hotel value. I want to do some sight-seeing during day and use hotel just for undisturbed sleep and save storing for my stuff. InterSport Hotel has Internet access and good location - all other points could be accepted but not for offered price.

We stayed in this hotel only for one night and we have to haggle over the price of double room from its starting position on 90 EUR (~ $120) to final 50 EUR (~ $67) including breakfast and way from/to airport. And I think it was still pricey (however in given circumstances it was acceptable) and you should be able to found much more cheaper hostel in this area which will be in better condition.

Our room has adequate size, but everything seemed to be run down, even the temperature of hot water was unstable. Aircondition setting panel was broken and you were able set AC completely off or to the heating mode. Whole hotel smells like japanese shinkansen smoking car at the rush hour. Cold coffe and "iced" scambled eggs for breakfast was just another piece of this intersport mosaic.

Service: Somebody from hotel staff woke me up in the middle of the night and put ice bucket in front of our doors (yes - I did not ordered anything). They also promised to wake up us via phone in the morning to catch the plane, but forget to (or maybe they woke up some other guests).

Only positive side is location and Internet access, but there are plenty better lodging in this area and you should use this hotel only if you have no other choice (or if you are able to drive a hard bargain for haggling over the price).

Positives: excellent location near Grand Bazaar and the Metro which is easy and cheap; clean; good bed; spacious room and bathroom; working elevator; warm enough; not too noisy; wifi in room worked OK; a couple of the young male staff were helpful if asked; shuttle to and from airport.
Negatives: seriously in need of renovation; some male staff surly and unhelpful, in fact downright rude; overpriced; smokers in rooms and corridors are tacitly encouraged; no smoke free-rooms at all; "restaurant" is a misnomer; breakfast limited though fresh enough; gym saloon non-existent although still being advertised. Only gave info on its own tourist events.

The hotel needs deep renovation. Everything is run down and old. Breakfast was horrid with mold on the jam and yesterday´s bread! However, the room was clean and beds confortable.
If it ever renovated it could be a nice place since the location in front of the Grand Bazaar is excellent.
