“Tiny Room with a Musty Odor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

First of all, the location is great (very near Topkapi Palace and within walking distance of the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Grand Bazaar. Also, the staff was very attentive and helpful. But the room was extremely small and our room (122) had an awful mildewy smell coming from the bathroom that was very unpleasant . We asked to be moved and no other rooms were available, so their solution was to put mothballs in the bathroom's drains. That helped--after all, mothballs smell better than mildew , but because of the smell I could never recommend this hotel.

This hotel is probably one of the best I've ever stayed at.
The rooms are decorated beautifully, very clean & the bathroom is great too.
The staff are extremely wonderful, pleasant & helpful.
Location of the hotel is excellent as it is just walking distance to all of the main touristic sites.
Would highly recommend!!!

Surprised by some of the slightly more negative comments posted here. The hotel was quite extraordinary, excellent location, wonderful and cheerful service coupled with a friendly orientated and relaxing interior environment. and ı want to say thanks for isa he was so kindş so helpfull.

The food was fantastic in addition the close proximity to some of the cultural areas in Istanbul made it a very accessible hotel. Would recommend a stay and will definitely be returning to this specific hotel should i visit istanbul again.

Room Tip: our room was in a flour which is the best ı think in 7.floor

I stayed at Soliman Hotel during a trip to Instabul at the end of March.
The hotel is in a good location, but there is construction right outside of the Hotel and the noise is terrible not during the day but during the night as well.
The lobby is incredibly small.
Breakfast is poor and if you have the bad luck to be placed on the 6th floor (where breakfast is served) you will wake up with the noise of the forks and spoons and plates clattering.
The 7th floor, where I was originally situated, is less noisy but the room is built like an attic, therefore if you are over 1.60cm, do not even consider it.
Bathrooms are nice, spacious and comfortable, the only good thing about this hotel.
Reception staff is friendly and helpful, under the circumstances.

Room Tip: Definitely not the 6th and 7th floor. Rooms in the back are quieter.

We stayed twice at Hotel Soliman, our initial first stay was for 4 nights we then travelled around Turkey and returned for a final night. On both occasions we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent and is in close walking proximity to all the main attractions in the area. The staff were warm and welcoming particularly Esa who went out of his way to make our stay memorable. The breakfast selection is varied and enjoyable.
