“Cozy small hotel allowing you to get into the spirit of Istanbul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2011

The location of the hotel is really perfect if you want to walk around the city and visit main sights. It is a nice small hotel, seems to be a family run one with warm comfartable romantic atmosphere and friendly staff (especially the lady serving breakfast). We liked our suite room on the top floor with very beautiful view of Bosphorus. We were provided with free transfer from Ataturk airport, as stayed for four nights in the hotel and small bottle of wine was a gift (I guess because of the suite room).
Unfortunately, only breakfast is served in the hotel, but you can always have some good coffee and meals in restaurants situated nearby. Breakfast is served on a nice terrace with view of the old city center.
Most of the places of interest are in walking distance, and even if you wand to go to the new part of the city, tram station is about 5 minutes on foot.
In general, I would say that it is a good hotel to stay in the old center of Istanbul as it has a typical ottoman style and allows you to get into the spirit of Istanbul, a link and mediator between Europe and Asia.

Room Tip: Suit room on the top floor with view of Bosphorus is very good

We stayed 8 nights in this hotel in a superb location. Just around the corner from all historic sites of the old town in Istanbul, it is situated in a street with a lot of small cafes and and some fantastic roof top terraces that you should check out! Felt safe and like at home. We have enjoyed the friendly service of all hotel staff, especially the manager Melih is extremely helpful. Breakfast was simple but delicious. The rooms were ok, our first room, we had a broken shower and not enough towels, we were then upgraded to a better room for a few days, which was great and really appreciated.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view, to street (a little more noisy), streets to back is less noisy (no view).

We stayed 3 nights. The location was great !! All the historical sites of Sultanahmet were close by and walking distance. Felt safe. The rooms were very clean and our suite room had excellant view of Bosphorus and sea of Marmara. Bathroom was clean. Big plasma tv with European channels. The staff were extremley helpful. Could not ask for better service. The open buffet breakfast was good with usual range of produce. In a nutshell the hotel was good value for money . Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling with families or friends:)

Room Tip: the room was very clean

We stayed at Zeugma for 10 nights while in Istanbul. We were drawn to it because of its website, which gave a great idea of what the place was like. We weren't disappointed. The rooms were as we'd expected and provided a comfortable place for us to retire after a long day of sightseeing. The location is in the Old Istanbul District, very close to the "big three" attractions in that area - the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, and Topkapi Palace. There are plenty of other great sights and sites nearby - museums, parks, and so on. It's near the tramway, making it easy to get around to less touristy areas of the city as well as other transportation centers - the train and bus stations, the ferry ports, etc. The front desk staff (Cem and Sukru) were very helpful, too, always ready to provide advice on how to get around and where to eat, tidbits about Turkish culture and history, etc. I've read on on some forums that a few people disliked the small breakfasts, but we found them just fine and ate breakfast at Zeugma every morning - they're not small at all, and you can pick and choose what and how much to eat (buffet style). Mrs. Tuna, who does both the breakfast service and room cleaning, is a sweet and friendly woman.
The only complaint we have is that sometimes the street out in front of the hotel gets a bit noisy late into the night hours, but that is to be expected at a central location like this. After a day or so, we adapted and it was really no problem.
In sum, we highly recommend Zeugma Hotel! For us, it was a great value for the money.

We stayed at Hotel Zeugma July 17-19, 2011 and July 24-26, 2011. The hotel was great hotel. The room was nicely decorated, very clean, air conditioned, and the bed was very comfortable. We could look out the window and view the hustle and bustle of Istanbul but the sounds were not heard in the room. The lobby was very nice and clean. A computer is available for use as well as a sitting area with a large screened t.v. This was the only hotel that I noticed had mini information cards available free of charge. These cards identified and explained historic sites, provide language help (Turkish/English), monetary information, etc.

Breakfast was very nice and served from the roof top. Tuna prepared breakfast every morning and she was extremely pleasant. It was nice to see her every morning. Cem worked during the day at the main desk and he spoke good English. He was very nice, patient, and extremely helpful as we planned trips and asked general questions.

We stayed at the Zeugma for a few days and went to Greece for several days. We were booked at another hotel upon our return to Istanbul, but liked the Zeugma so much that we canceled our reservations at the other hotel and stayed at the Zeugma for a few more days.

The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to the Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia, and the tram on the main street that can take you to the Grand Market, Eminonu, and other sites. There were many restaurants, shops, etc., available to you when you stepped out of the door. Two places that I would highly recommend to eat that were extremely good, safe and had excellent prices (a 1 and 2 minute walk) is the Albura Kathisma Restaurant (after your meal ask to see the 3rd century palace they are excavating-part of the restaurant) and Rumist Café 8 Art Bistro.

I would definitely stay at the Zeugma again.
