“Pleasant and Nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I loved how we are treated as guests in this hotel! I'm from the Philippines and is so amazed by their culture. The room was nice and cozy, and the food was delicious! I would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to friends! The location is best, if you want to tour around the city by just walking around. All the scenic spots are just around this hotel.

We arrived 6 in the morning but received our room immediately without any extra charge, they also gladly invited us to breakfast.
Really serviceoriented, helped out with various bookings, restaurant recommendations etc. All staff friendly, rooms clean and well equipped. Location of hotel excellent with walking distance to everything to see in the old town

Whoever has known this hotel before must be very disappointed. Not too long ago there was a terrace with a magnificent view over the Marmara Sea and the entrance of the Bosphorus all the way to the shores of Asia. Here one enjoyed breakfast - indoor or outdoor - and it always was a great start of the day. And during the day one could sit in the garden behind the reception and sip one of the hotels good Lavazza-coffees.

Well, all this is no more - only on the hotels billboard at the entrance and on their website, where they especially mention the views from the rooftop. Apparently the owners decided to replace the rooftop café with more rooms and to turn the garden into a breakfast room. This place now has the feel of a greenhouse, with the glass walls covered by see-through plastic in rainy weather. There are no more tables for two as on the rooftop and the views are towards walls on all sides.

It is true there is now a bigger choice at the breakfast buffet, although before there was plenty enough available already. Now they have added several plates of sauteed vegetables, also French Fries (cold) and six kind of olives instead of three. The choice of fruit has remained the same (apples and oranges) and the fruit-juices are still made from syrup.

Thanks to the wonderful terrace one didn't mind so much that some of the rooms are very small and impractical, with almost no storage place. There are twin rooms like 202, where two persons should not come with two suitcases, but just a shared handbag.

Staff is friendly and helpful, especially the ones that have been here for several years. Location is very good, in walking distance to the Hippodrome and the Sultanahmet tram station. Wit a stay of more than 5 days a free airport transfer is offered.

There is free WiFi, but the connection in the room is very erratic.

This hotel is close to all the Old city attractions. Lots of decent restaurants within
walking distance. Very safe area. Marvelous staff. Very friendly and patient in
explaining things to do see in Istanbul (great great city by the way). They provided
free pick-up and drop-off service from the airport.

It is in the old city and the building is old. If you have any kind of knee or ankle pains
do request for 1st floor rooms. There is no elevator.

Bathrooms are small and heating and cooling were a little erratic.

Breakfast gets boring very quickly if you stay there longer than 2 days. Not much
variety.

I visited Istanbul for new year eve, 2015 with two friends on mine. We stayed @ tashkonak for 7 nights, the hotel location is far 10 mins walking distance to the metro; the hospitality was wonderful, they guided us & assisted us in any possible way as it was our first time to turkey. The breakfast was delicious, mostly like a home breakfast. I recommend each one who has limited budget to stay their. Mr. anan, the manager, is very helpful & friendly. thanks tashkonak team :)
