“Location and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2014

Had a very pleasant experience staying at this hotel with curious and professional staff attending to all of our needs. Breakfast has a myriad of cheeses and fresh honey plus an assortment of other Turkish culinary delights. For dinner head straight upstairs to the terrace restaurant and see the whole Bosporus on display. The location of this hotel is one of its greatest assets, close to the Buyukada ferry, Taksim and the cafés of Cihanger. It is quite bumpy so remember that you will have some uphill sections to traverse but that's the terrain of Istanbul. What a delightful introduction to Turkey it has been for me.

First of all, if you are a Senior, and have trouble with joints or heart, don't chose Sed Hotel, unless you want to do your trips by taxi. But if you enjoy walking steep, narrow and beautiful alleys a little bit, here is the place. in that case, you have only 700 Meters walk to Taksim Sq., Tram Station, and much less to nearest funicular Station in the south of the hotel, which connects you the subway network, and almost anywhere in the Istanbul Büyükser (Megacity). a big advantage of the location is it's peace and quiet. no traffic jam, very few horns, and no loud music (except the good live weekend music in the restaurant, which ends at midnight). you cannot compare it with annoying noises of hotels around crowded taksim, or istiklal st. Did I mention the lovely view of southern wing room to Sea and Dolmabahçe palace?
For me, the first impression of a hotel staff is important, and they surely did impress. My girlfriend and I arrived 7 hours sooner than check-in time, the gentle receptionist instantly had us guided to our room, and then led us to breakfast buffet, all as compliments of the hotel. they also kindly offer a complimentary dinner (for 4 nights stay or more) in the top floor restaurant, which has the benefit of a breath taking night view of old city, sea, and straight. the choice of this free meal was very limited, but delicious and more than sufficient. breakfast buffet is good also. nothing special, but good mixture of healthy stuff.
Our room was comparatively small, but had everything we needed, especially WIFI. The frig was full with various kinds of soft and alcoholic drinks, bathroom was clean, and had all the necessities, including a bath, and the bed was comfy, except it was a little short.
All in all, Sed hotel is a wise budget choice for a trip of romance, sightseeing, and shopping. after all, my girlfriend congratulated and thanked me for choosing it as our stay, she is happy and satisfied, and that was the whole point of the trip. So, Thank You Guys!

We had a 4 days city break at Istanbul and choose Sed Hotel based on many good reviews found on internet and also on its location close to center. Every expectation has been met: excellent service, very helpful personnel, rooms very clean and fair furnished, very good breakfast. The hotel location allowed us to easily access most of the places you'd want to visit in Istanbul (in a couple of minutes you can get to T1 tram (tramvay) or the subway).
Excellent value for the money!

When i booked the room(about 60€ per night for a double room with breakfast included), i did not expect much!but everything surprised me well!the room we stayed in, was clean, spacious, with a great view and with a decent breakfast. The location of the hotel is ideal(near metro stop, bus stop, port for Prince΄s islands and Taksim square (without its noise and crowd)).Try the roof restaurant (great view) even just for drinks (the food was decent but not great). The stuff was helpful, friendly and even though their accent is strong Turkish, their English is quite good!!When back in Istanbul (because you fall in love with this city), for sure back in Sed Hotel!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: The rooms on the 2nd floor combine both great view and less noise from the "otherwise" goo...

The hotel is good. The staff is friendly and helpful, speaking good English.
From my window I saw the Bosporus bridge and this meant a lot for me.
I liked the aquarium and the bird in the lobby.
Note, they have a splendid view from the restaurant on the highest floor!

This hotel could be classified as average budget hotel. The location on a hill between Taksim and Kabatas, closer to the Kabatas both, train and buss stations. If you want to go to Kabatas it is easy to descend the hill, but if you want to go to Takism, you need to climb up the hill which is exhausting. If you decide to take taxi, keep the hotel address with you because most of the taxi drivers do not know where the hotel is.
The hotel has nice roof restaurant overviewing the Bosphorus. The rooms are ok, bathrooms as well with exception of very strange installation instead of window which is open with no possibility to close around the year. So the showering can be unpleasant experience if it is a winter windy time.
Other than this, the breakfast is also ok, not too much varieties but contains basics like 3 types of salami, 2 types of cheese, some Turkish delights etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
